She's seen the Doctor cold. She remembers watching him react with bland indifference to the sight of a dead body and finding herself blurting out, "Sometimes you don't seem...", only to bite back on the word "human" at the last moment.
And she's seen him incandescent, seen him burning with righteous rage at the universe's injustices or caught up in the heat of impassioned speeches about human destiny.
But this version, this Doctor... In his eyes, she can see the fire and the ice at once. Together. She wonders if that's new, or if she simply never noticed it before.
