Apparently, my boredom is now leading to spamming. Sorry about that. But here's the first of the requested drabbles. This one is for snowgrouse, who suggested: "While going through a pile of ashes, Vila finds this funny ring with squiggly symbols on it..."

Vila plucked the object up from the ashes, brushed it off, and examined it closely. Some kind of ring. He didn't recognize the symbols, although he considered himself something of an expert on jewelry. He wondered if he could get anything for it. Might be worth hanging onto. He moved to slip it onto his finger.
Yes, said a voice somewhere in the basement of his mind. Yes. Foolish human, you have no idea what you have. But you will. And it laughed.
Vila dropped the ring hastily back into the ash. He'd learned his lesson with that bloody sarcophagus.
