So, I've finally got around to starting Don Quixote, which I've been meaning to read for ages and ages. And, OK, I expected to find the character sort of familiar, because he's one of those archetypes or something, and you see the story itself referenced everywhere. YES! I'd been waiting on someone else to realise this. *is sad 17th century ho*... he is totally a fanboy. It is pure fanboy madness that keeps him going:).

Now he's quoting entire chunks of books, and apparently doing a bit of RP. Such a fanboy! :)

God, it's been too long. Must reread. Hmm. Must pick language to read in. Eh, english, I'm feeling lazy.

And hey, not only do Fanboys have a long and noble history, they have a future, too! Tom Paris, anyone?

No, no, I mean as an example of a fanboy. Cause he so is.

D'oh! "Pores." Though I was stuneed when, distressingly recently, I learned that was actually the correct spelling in this context. It looks wrong to me. The associations feel all wrong. Stupid English.

Hee! I started reading it a few years back, but only got halfway through before I had to return it to the library. I feel the sudden need to go re-borrow it, now. *g*

(About all I can remember is the basket of laundry. Heh.)

I haven't gotten to any laundry baskets yet, but I suppose it'll be something to look forward to. I was a little surprised to realize the famouns Windmill Incident takes up all of about a page, but I did get a huge laugh out of his reaction. "Well, they were giants, so some enchanter must have come along and changed them on me at the last minute." It's like arguing with a creationist! :)

Catherine Morland, in Northanger Abbey, is sort of the Unattractive Face of Fangirldom.

By a weird coincidence I was just writing about her on someone else's journal not 5 minutes ago, and suggesting that today she'd be writing Buffy fanfic. I don't know about the "Unattractive Face of Fangirldom", though. I liked her.

But Austen wants us to learn an Important Life Lesson about fandom.
