random Merlin stuff

I thought I would share (while saving for myself) the two most useful-for-fanfic pages I've found out of the huge sprawling Arthurian section in wikipedia:

Sites and places associated with Arthurian legend

List of Knights of the Round Table

of which the most entertainingly news-to-me is Sir Galehaut -- NOT a variation on Sir Galahad. Choice ( Read more... )

Thank you for the links! I had no idea there were so many knights. Must have been a very big table, indeed.

the only way he knows how to make that happen is to be so overwhelmingly awesome that they can't help it.

This is so very true. :)

Red is one of my favorite Merlin videos. (The other being, of course, If (I Was Your Girl)). I need to watch those other cast videos- I saw the one with the spider and Colin mouthing things at the camera and Bradley being generally amazing. Usually I don't care much about what goes on behind the scenes in shows, either, but those boys are so adorable that I actually want to watch interviews.

Ha--Arthur becomes the greatest king in history largely because he didn't get enough love as a child. I feel like that story would need several scenes with him on the couch of a medieval therapist or something.

I love that video so much, it's what made me watch the show in the first place.

"Today Sir Bedevere told me I was a great king! Can you believe it? All I did was defeat an invading army. And then I think Sir Gawaine might have smiled at me, but I guess that could've been about something else."

What you said about Arthur breaks my heart (such a bad way to apply the reward system and just bad parenting in general) but is completely true. Unfortunately. A lot of Uther's bad judgement calls are going to come back to haunt Arthur, and this may be one of them.

The cast is just so lovely. They all get along very well, though the actress for Morgana doesn't seem to be as integrated as the others (which may or may not explain the weaker acting). I hope the second DVD box set will have more extras!

Do you know what Colin is mouthing at the camera? It's been driving me nuts.

Also, Bradley James and Colin Morgan turn into 12 year-olds around each other. I am convinced of this.

ahaha at least one bit of it, he's mouthing "he bullies me every day" but I can't quite figure out the rest. <3

Ah, okay. There's one part where he mouths 'help', I think.

Thanks!

Highlights include, Arthur's actor and Merlin's actor fight an evil spider and play a stupid prank on Gwen's actor. No, I mean, really stupid, it's so nursery-school level I'm vaguely surprised they didn't just yank her pigtails and run away to hide around the nearest corner.

I think my favorite thing about this is that they are both clearly aware of exactly how stupid and juvenile the prank is, but they are too punchy and pleased with themselves to care. Also, the term "camera whore" was clearly invented to describe Bradley James.

And I think you're on the money about the addictiveness of Uther's scant praise. One wonders how a less exceptional son would have fared. It also marks his relationships with Merlin and Gwen, because he's had to earn their respect on different and more meaningful levels, which has the side effect of making him a better man and king while feeding his need for love and approbation.
