"Jekyll and Hyde" - Broadway Production

Oh, Frank Wildhorn. You're insane.

While at the library I found a DVD of the Broadway production of Jekyll and Hyde, entitled David Hasselhoff in Jekyll and Hyde. As I apparently have masochistic impulses, I borrowed it.

It's so bad. Really, amazingly bad. And not just David Hasselhoff. The entire production is so terrible that it seems to exist ( Read more... )

ahahaha I own that dvd for the pure lol factor. Hasselhoff is just atrocious, especially his This is the Moment. He's a little bit better as Hyde, though, so I guess you have that to look forward to?

The girls are really the only bright spot in the whole production. Andrea Rivette is such a fierce Emma, and reminds me why Emma is my favourite, and Coleen Sexton makes me actually NOT lol at Lucy and how stupid I find her whole existence in the story.

Oh, and if you look really closely, you can find Kelli O'Hara dancing around in the ensemble! That was her Broadway debut, I think.

You're right, actually. Though I think a lot of that is because Hyde is so insane anyway that you don't notice quite so much?

Oh, you're so right. They're trying their best, both of them, you can see that. I pity them, rather.

I found her! :D She has two (tiny) solos during "Murder, Murder!" And she's near the front during the wedding.

Haha, definitely seconded; that DVD never fails to brighten my day.

The first time I saw it, I was hoping all the Coleen Sexton action would balance him out, because she does a really marvelous job in my opinion...but well, even she's not enough to take the lol out of it. :(

She does her best, you have to give her credit for that - but then he says "You helped me tonight. With that song" in that horrible tone of his, and you can tell that even she is having trouble not laughing.

Oh, you really must. Just be sure to have the concept around to clear your head afterwards.

All right, David Hasselhoff's "Transformation" is the most hysterical thing in the entire world

YES!

A group of friends and I watched the movie back in highschool, and for about a year we were constantly imitating Hasselhof's transformation at parties and such. It was fun.

Ah yes, the Hasselhoff crack. I agree with pretty much everything those above me have said.
