I don't know how much is cultural, but I had a friend who was Indian who moved because in India apparently people do believe that children with Autism are possessed.

Of course there are Christians here who also seem to believe it. I actually had some stupid person in a church approach me to tell me that my beautiful kind son was possessed by the devil and that I had to let them exorcise him. Makes me sick to remember... I was so furious!

Good point. While I have heard that there is good autism research going on in India. I just wanted to point out it's a heterogeneous sociity, there's most likely difference between rural areas and elite universities. It the same in the United States too.

Google "autism+exorcism". A lot of people actually seem to think that demonic possession causes autism. Or is it the other way around?

This story is bloody sickening. No matter how difficult we are to deal with, it is not our fault! No one deserves to be murdered, no matter how "difficult" they are.
