Yeah but it's completely leaving out what causes some kids to have Autism and everyone else with those genes to be just a bit eccentric?

I guess it's the same as for most, if not all, 'disorders' - genetic risk along with a pattern of additional risk and buffering factors.

ohai eugenics.

I can see this going down a very scary road for us... think Heroes and The Company (if you're a fan of it- if not then Gattaca) and you'll understand what I mean.

How about you get out of this community, since you're not interested in being a part of it?

Um...autistic people are allowed to want cures. If she's an NT, she should get out, but there's no reason why everyone on the spectrum should have to be happy about being on the spectrum. I'd probably take a cure if I could get one, too, at least if it would completely fix my ADHD and poor executive functioning as well.

Autism, and anyone not of the proper race, or gender, or anyone who's too smart to fit into a middle-of-the-road public school. Anyone with artistic ability, creativity, or ingenuity.

Yes, I certainly see where that would lead to better world. (He wrote facetiously).

interesting and a bit disturbing... I only wish it was more in depth.

I saw this item on BBC news...I was a little surprised, since as far as I knew, the 'genetic link' to autism had been fairly well established already. Also the relationship to frontal development. They seem rather overexcited by these 'wonderful' discoveries!

Then again the 'news' invariably seems to be a few years behind when it comes to scientific developments :/
