p.s. For those who are squeamish, feel free to stop here.
He went into pre-op at about 1:00 pm; into surgery at about 2:30; out of surgery at about 5:00; and settled into CardioVascular ICU by 6:15, which was the first time we were able to see him up close and personal. However, it wsa not very up close. He has an arterial tap (Blood Pressure monitor), a chest tube between ribs on right side (to evacuate any fluid buildup in pleural cavity - i.e., outside the lung but inside the chest), an IV (for meds), plus EKG leads pasted on his chest and abdomen (heart and heart rate monitor), and Oxygen monitor in two locations. He does not have a feeding tube up his nose. Yay!
