does anyone think they can help someone who is the worst computer user ever?

my dad's old laptop which is 7 stopped being able to connect to the internet now that the cable company upgraded our router/modem and I don't know what to do!

anyone know how to fix this old but goodie laptop (windows/compaq) and get me connected again?
