greasemonkey add on for firefox question

Aug 13, 2009 12:32

I know this is probably lame, but I don't usually install too many add ons for firefox. But I want to try one in particular, greasemonkey. What is it for and is safe to use?

My friend recommend it for facebook but how is it good for facebook? or any site?

It allows Firefox to run javascript apps on certain sites in an effort to provide more functionality on those sites, modify them, etc. It's generally safe as long as you're using the latest version of Firefox. I use a few scripts on LJ to show me which comments in a thread are new and to expand collapsed comment threads without reloading the page.

http://userscripts.org has tons of greasemonkey scripts that are rated by the community.

thanks for the info! I'll check the site out and see if I should give it a try.
