Hmmm, this is strange. It doesn't sound like something DFAT would ask you to do. (Department of Foreign Affairs and Transport)

When you say immigration paper, is that her acknowledgement for her granted permanent visa?

If your father is an Australian citizen, I think you should go to the post office and enquire if you can use his birth certificate instead of paying $55 for proof of Australian Citizenship.

To be frank, a birth certificate should have been sufficient because it STATES your citizenship regardless. I personally would find a number and ring DFAT personally to avoid unnecessary expenses.

I still need to get my own passport done since I'm over 18 now. Its really strange to hear you're having trouble getting yours.

Also, I'm sure DIAC still has your mum's records. =] Everything is recorded on our systems and there's also our archives.

The Immagration Paper that mum has, has got her full name, and the full names of her parents and brother on it. It is a document of ID, saying that they are approved migrants to Australia.

And with dad's stuff, hahaha I have no chance of getting that. Cos my parents are separated, and I haven't spoke to dad in nearly 6 years. And plus mum says he never had a birth certificate.

Hmm interesting. You would figure that would suffice, especially since that would have the Government/Immigration header on the letter.

I've read the passport form, and everything that you brang should have been sufficient to get one. =/ I still say you should ring through to DFAT, ask the questions, explain the situation and get the right answers. The Post office is like the middleman really... you need information straight from the department. Once you have the info, ask them if they can either send you something in writing or direct you to a place where you can get a print of the information, and bring it with you to the interview. That way, whoever is doing the passport interview can't dispute with you as you have clearly done your research =]

its a slightly longer process, but I wouldn't pay $55 for a piece of paper yanno? Try that and hopefully it helps!
