Mmm. Lovely bread. Care to share the recipe? I'm looking for a good multi-grain bread recipe (though I have to make it by hand).
What a wonderful day! I'm so glad you could enjoy the nice weather. That porch is wonderful!
It's also wonderful that you have a hubby both willing to bake bread and discuss books of mutual interest. If you were in a novel, I'd say this was so unrealistic and deem it some woman author's fantasy (particularly the discussing-books part)! ;-D
Because he uses the bread maker and has never made bread in America (different weights, measurements and temps on oven) he can't help you figure it out. However, I can give you the ingredients as he uses them, and tell you that it needs THREE rises before baking. If you are a bread maker, you can figure the rest out, I guess!
This is for the size loaf he uses: 1.5 c water 2/3 c. cracked wheat which sits in the measured water at least one hour. Add the water and the cracked wheat with the liquid ingreadients. 1/2 c. sunflower seeds 3 tbs. sesame seeds 2.5 tbs. olive oil 1.5 tbs. honey 1 tsp salt 1 1/3 c. whole wheat flour 1 3/4 c bread flour 1/4 c oatbran 2 tbs vital gluten 2 tsp yeast
hope you can adjust and enjoy this! let me know how it turns out!
And I really laughed when you said that if I was in a novel, my life would be unrealistic! That's hysterical! I do have the dream husband... I have a life much like Job's, as it is far better in my later years than in the earlier (well, everything except medical). :D
Yes, I can figure out something similar; it was the relative ingredient quantities that I was interested in, so this is perfect. Thanks! Three rises, though? Hmmm. I'll have to get more organized to do something like this. :-D
Thank you! I certainly DID enjoy every minute, and didn't want to go back inside! :) My favorite times with Bear have always been our discussion of things, and even better if out on the porch!
I have been with my boyfriend for four and a half years and it seems more and more as if our relationship is one, long, ongoing conversation that never really starts or finishes.
wonderful photos! how great that you finally can sit outside again! thanks for sharing and the bread looks delicious! i can almost smell it through the screen.
Thanks, Mia, and yes... it is wonderful to be outside again. I had to laugh, I know what you mean about almost smelling the bread through the screen! I smell it being baked every five days, and rarely partake in it because it is Bear's bread for his lunches for the week. I love it when I actually get to eat it, WARM!
Wow, the snow certainly melted quickly. It seems like just the other day you were snowed in for a bazillenth time. Glad you think that is warm weather....take it up 15-20 degrees and I'm with you.
The bread looked great, and I could almost taste it with melted butter and honey. We've never had a bread machine, or tasted bread out of a bread machine come to think of it. I'll have to come up and Dave will have to make us some. :)
We've been thinking of you guys. Wondering how you were doing. Very pleased that the weather has changed and you can enjoy the spring air. Can you manuever the wheelchair with oxygen out on the porch yourself or do you need help? I hope that your aide can help you to be outside often during the day.
I know, it has snowed so many times this year! and of course, the season's not over. It isn't unusual to get snow in March and April, though I really REALLY hope not this year.
I thought bread made in a machine couldn't possibly be as good as hand made, but I was wrong. It is delicious and has none of the nasty things they put in bread (chemicals, "enriched" flour, etc. ), just wholesome goodness! And it actually has some texture to it.
You sure ask the right questions, J.! My aide can help me get out -- the biggest problem aren't the doors, but the dogs/cats. They will slip out while I am making my way through the doorway. Teresa will hold Bella and put Spencer on the leash, and then hold the door, keeping the other critters inside. She's a smoker, so I keep my distance from her while she is smoking, but it is wonderful anyway. The only downside is that I would like to have time to myself, like in the morning before she comes, to read or draw, or just sing or pray.
