I haven't yet gone to anyone else's journals, so please don't think I'm ignoring your situations by writing this... Anyway...
Today is GORGEOUS here! 67 degrees and sunny, and we've been able to open the windows wide to air out the house (it is so well insulated that the heat always stays inside a long time) and there is simply NOTHING like fresh air. As usual, a lot has happened but I'm just starting from TODAY in this post.
Because it was so warm, Bear gathered up both dogs (Bella on a short leash, Spence on the long) and then opened both front doors for me to roll my chair (complete with oxygen) onto the front porch. Then he brought a tray with coffee carafe, cups, creamer and set it on the little table. Finally, he grabbed my Kindle and his "hard copy" of the book we both read and wanted to discuss (The Shack) and he settled into his rocking chair next to the table, which was next to me, and we enjoyed the air. The dogs were immediately ready to enjoy the sun, and Sylvester (aka Vesty) put on a show for us. He was all over the front yard, up and down the porch steps, back down into the yard and finally lying on the porch in the shade behind us. What a peaceful, beautiful time we had!
I've taken many pictures so I thought I'd share them with you. Nothing spectactular, but it will help you "be with us" as we enjoyed our coffee on the porch.
While I waited for Bear to bring the books, Vesty explores the little hill while Spencer looks on.
Bear finds his place in his book... Our first time back on the porch together since last early fall.
Arnold Ziffle, er, I mean Bella! (a reference to the pet pig in the old TV show "Green Acres", which has a lot of significance to us living here!) She really isn't as chubby as it looks here, the light and shadows make her look that way :) (she wanted me to tell you that). Relaxing in the sun at Bear's feet. Ahhh!
Spencer surveying his domain... a great view for a dog.
The table, my Kindle on the box of tissues we both needed a few minutes after being out there! Never seem to plan for everything.
Another shot of Spencer, from Bear's viewpoint.
Sylvester coming back up to the porch for the zillionth time
Getting a quick cuddle from daddy
Back down to the sidewalk to roll around a bit
Back up on the porch for a quick catnap. He looks so LONG when he stretches out, which he does frequently on the floor, especially when I am in my chair on my way to another room! Sometimes I have to literally push him along with the toe of my foot, and he still doesn't move, just goes for the ride on the hardwood floor!
Vesty's absolutely FAVORITE position, on the floor. He LOVES to lie on his back!
Back in the house so Bear can get the loaf of homemade bread he just baked out of the machine. The scent that fills the house during that bread making time! Mmmm! Just like on the cartoons of my childhood where the curls of scent come and go up your nose... A few minutes later, he gave us both a slice of the warm bread with a bit of butter and drizzle of honey on them. Oh, heavenly! Until Phoebe the tortie cat jumped up on my desk and put her foot on one of the cut pieces! ARRGGHHHH!!! I did let her live, however. But Spence got the benefit of her klutziness, as I gave him the soiled piece.
After the heel was sliced off (Bear's favorite) Mmmm, can't you just smell it?
The top of the lovely loaf of oat bran, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, cracked wheat, bread flour, wheat flower and some salt (his own recipe)
Hope your day has been peaceful and lovely
