It just figures....

Yesterday, the repairman came to fix my motorized chair, and it was something very simple after he figured out what it was, exactly. And then, I had my chair back, my wonderful, mobilizing, freeing chair ( Read more... )

Oh, K. Some people have the compassion of a snail. I'm so sorry. I wish we could help! I wish I had a magic wand I could wave!

I know you do. I do, too... we have about $1020 in the fund so far.

Who would be so horribly to write an anonymous letter like that?
:(
I don't know much about your condition but if you're basically homebound and in a wheel chair there isn't much chance of extravagant trips, is there? Some people are just not nice at all.

I hope your chair gets fixed and you can have the ramp built. I remember when we had to have a ramp built for my mom's wheel chair. My dad and brother did a lot of the work but it wasn't cheap. It was just so necessary so she could get out of the house even minimally.

My ramp has to go from halfway down a mountainside to nearly the top, going back and forth across our narrow back garden/yard. It is cheaper and more sensible than tryign to move, and we do actually love our house. The accessiblity is horrible, though -- "normal" people have a hard time with climbing up and down the steps.

So you need a concrete ramp?
That sounds very complicated. No wonder it costs so much.
:(

no, not concrete. Wood. But it is complicated, and the wood alone costs $8,000!

Didn't you have some dumbass beefing online a few months back about your raucously expensive restaurant and reading habits? This new letter seems like an echo. Could it be the same dumbass?

(Oops. Sorry, ma'am. Shouldn't use terms like "dumbass" in front of a lady of the cloth. Er . . .)

I don't think it was the same person. However, that can't be ruled out. Whoever it is is a very horrible person. I didn't quote the letter, but just believe me on that. Your "oops" cracked me up. Nice to have something to laugh about!

It strikes me that this is someone who has simply got the wrong end of the stick, made an honest mistake, and reacted entirely wrongly. Either that or they're just an asshole (and I know you've heard worse language than that) who enjoys making people feel bad.
Either way, what they think is no reflection on you.

First, don't let this mean spirited ignoramus make you feel bad, and second, what goes around comes around without fail.

I hope you are right. Your icon says it all for me! Ad Bear said, they probably don't even have the money and when they said they changed their mind after reading my journal -- it was probably a lie anyway. Never had the money in the first place.

I agree, I doubt they had money to begin with.

People are so cruel sometimes, it's mind boggling to me. I'm so sorry this has happened to you. I wish we had even a bit of money, I would send it right along. I think you should try to put some info about this ramp on your homepage here though an maybe a paypal button so if/when someone would/could donate, they'd know how to do it.

There is a page dedicated to it, if you look at the bottom of the left column on my journal. It is Outta the house.

we have one dear friend who is giving us a regular donation-- monthly, I think it is.
