should you feel bad? not in the slightest. your gender sets you up for a lot of negatives to begin with, esp in the workplace. if we started from an equal footing with the guys, then yes, but we don't. women generally make less, are promoted less, etc (and that's just workplace issues) - consider this a little scale-balancing.

good luck again..
and while it may be a bit odd to take advantage of your gender in this... i will point out that in modern society we often get a LOT of rather subtle discrimination against us because of our gender (more prominent in tech fields, but not only there) so consider it payback....

I have found gender to be an advantage sometimes too. But as the others said, it can be a disadvantage too.

Generally I think I wouldn't be too stressed about something like gender advantage ... it's entirely out of your control.

Another angle at this is that no guy is really going to be complaining about having a female body on the staff. Even the person you edged out probably would, in the abstract, be fine with the wink/nudge. You have bonus value?

I personally would take issue if my gender was a determinant on getting a job, but that's because I'm sort of a stickler for that kind of stuff. I don't think that it really matters that much all around, though.

I always think it's kind of a twisted-up sexism to want to hire either gender because they're the minority in a workplace. Just because something works in your favor does NOT mean, in my opinion, that it isn't sexist. It's not your fault if they do work that way, so I'd say, accept that you are that rare miracle, a minority with benefits, and enjoy it.

After all, only majorities are allowed to have privilege-guilt. :D
