Well, I officially have this job until the 31st of March. In January I'll be applying for the esteemed position of 'Systems Engineer' (because some annoying guy somewhere in the restructure plan decided we shouldn't be called Systems Administrators anymore... bleh

You should take the chances given.
If you do the job right no one will or can complain.
It would be different if you play the gender card to net a good job that you fail at.

Actually when hiring, especially tech jobs, they should be looking at composing a diverse team. Different ages, sexes, backgrounds etc. Building a team with all like-minded nerds is a ticket for disaster.

The whole gender card thing definitely does suck - but it's not you playing it, it's the university. Anyhow, you DESERVE the job regardless - if you really weren't as good as the next guy, then it'd be a little iffy, but you are, so I wouldn't worry about it.

Would you feel bad if the coin had landed on the other face? Perhaps it's just from me being in a female dominint school/work were I'm exposed to crazy feminist notzies daily, but I think anything that puts you ahead that isint preformance obility or creativitiy should be strucken from though in turms of imployment. Plus, as everyrone here has said, you do deserve the job FROM your abilitys, not your gender.
