So, I sit at the light waiting to turn left off Mill onto West Main. Light (with green left arrow no less) comes up. I look to see if anyone is coming to run the yellow/red changover. Nope. All good. I start to turn, and some asshat barrels down East Main, through the red light and almost clips me in the intersection as I turn. Nice.

My uncle who passed last year is buried in an old Military cemetery in Sackets Harbor, NY. Sackets, as we call it, is 10 minutes due west of my town. My town is seeing heavy development due to to the large expansion of the nearby military base. This means tons of new department stores, chain restraints, and hotels. Tons of new housing is being built. Even our historic downtown is getting a much needed face lift. The construction in this town right now is unprecedented. There is barely a street ( Read more... )

This news story baffles me, somewhat.

Amish in my area are being taken to court for failure to get building permits. Problem is, they only speak Pennsylvania Dutch, and apparently the translator for the Amish cannot translate some of the legalese into their language.
