solid analysis... almost worth of an A if you had handed it in my class (need to cite page numbers when refering back to the material in my classes, that's the only that that would keep it from being an A paper)

i think that J.K.R. is setting us up to believe that Harry is going to die, but that he won't... i think that she's as twisted as we are

Thanks. I thought of putting pincites, but there are so many versions of the book around the world that I figured it would make it too confusing, and possibly too academic as well.

I agree with alot of your analysis, though, as I just happened to mention in my last LJ entry, I do not think Harry is in love with Ginny just yet, though who knows how it will go in book 7.

And I think that we are going to be lead to believe that Harry is the seventh Horcrux that he must die to kill Voldemort but at the last minute learn that he had been but isn't anymore. I think when Voldie used him for for his ressurection he released the bit of soul he had left in him. I think that's why Dumbledore had that "gleam" in GOF, because he knew that Harry didn't necessarily have to die now.

OMG *clings to that hope so very tightly*

There are many stages of love, and its hard to tell where they are. but for him to "give her up" shows at least a certain degree of love and respect for her.

As for the gleam theory, my problem with it is that it is a cop out. I believe J.K. wants her series to be viewed as an epic of sorts, a la LOTR, and for that to truly happen, Harry has to die. He's the tragic hero bearing her variation of the mark of the Beast. He really has to die in the end.

I guess we'll just have to disagree on the Harry loving Ginny thing. I agree that giving her up does show a degree of caring but I am atill not convinced that it is love ( ... )

After GoF, I thought Harry was going to have to die in order for Voldie to die. Then after OotP and the prophecy, I was sure he would live. Now, I think he's going to die again. STOP TOYING WITH MY EMOTIONS, JKR.

Well-written analysis :D I enjoyed reading it.

Thank you. It was a pleasant change to write this more "serious" piece.

True, and Harry's death would make the series an epic.
