The Joys of a Generic Name

Bear drove all the way out to the OB's office in NLR to pick up my lab slip that I need for the 3-hour test, since they test at a lab for the longer one.  When he opened the envelope last night (clearly labeled with Stephanie Smith), we had a nice long laugh, and now he has to make another trip to NLR to return that poor gal's return to work letter ( Read more... )

sickly, whining

I noticed that the cream of wheat we give Kat for breakfast (Malt o meal) has pretty decent iron content. I don't know if you like cream of wheat, but thought I'd mention it. :)

Yep, most of the "breakfast cereals", even the sugary ones, have lots of iron added in. I love cream of wheat... may get a box with WIC next round. Since I have Cheerios & Honey Bunches of Oats to finish first ;-)

I did pick up some raisin bran since the iron is slightly higher and it's got such great fiber.

"We went to Wally World last night for groceries, and the boys had a field day researching iron content in foods. They are rather perturbed at how two different brands of the same vegetable can have different iron content. We are guessing something about how they prepare it for canning."

It is always wonderfully amazing to hear what amazes your boys

Apparently Michael Grillo is common enough that there are TWO at FedEx. A lot of mail meant for me gets sent to him in error, which results in people getting upset with me for not responding.

A company I worked for a few decades ago, had two Michael Gurillo's (father and son), which resulted in a lot of confusion as well (pre-mail, must paging and snail mail delivery errors)

Surprised they can't just fax the form to the office rather then you going there to pick it up!

Apparently the fact that I live in Little Rock but go to a doctor in North Little Rock (other side of the Arkansas River) seems to make them stumble a bit. The nurse apologized for making me "go to Little Rock" to get my test. The lab's rather convenient, about halfway between home and work, and in the same building (and floor) where my sons' pediatrician is.

I think they are afraid the lab will lose the lab slip (which I've had happen before in this type of situation, although not with this doctor/lab combo).
