I'm commenting as usual - don't know if I have anything to post about. I think this is a non-cause and I do NOT like some of its Russian allies, ie the ones who are having a go at the owners for being Jewish. If those guys are on one side of any argument, I feel a powerful urge to be on the other.
Couldn't agree more (and yes, I'd say the initial issue is definitely a beat-up). I wonder what the Venn-type intersection between Participants!in!RaceWank and Participants!in!BoycottDespiteAssociatedRacists looks like...?

On a more pleasant note: I am wallowing in the joys of Unreconstructed Seventies Telly at present. Don't suppose you know of any Gangsters slash, do you? I imagine it'd be (a) fairly unlikely and(b) confined to ancient zines if it did exist. I'm going to ask on Britslash, of course, but it's usually quicker to poke around on LJ these days :)
It's - well, it's probably quite inappropriate to say "delightful", but there's a very particular sort of enjoyment to be had out of the Eustonesque/crimegrit milieu, I think... Fascinating stuff - very NEL/Ted Lewis/Out in feel.
'ard men in Brum, gangs, racially divided power base (white, black, Asian), drugs, guns, lowlifes, violence... plus of course the obligatory Strip Club Sequences. Well-defined characters, thoroughly unlikeable :) Only seen the original Play For Today so far (DL), but I've ordered the full series on the strength of it.
