There might be another update by the end of the year, as I'm guessing I'll get The Inheritor done by next weekend.
ETA :: This post has been updated as of 22 January 2012 to reflect the last of the books read in 2011.

In 2008, I had a total of 28 books read. { DW || LJ }

In 2009, I had a total of 31 books read. { DW || LJ }

In 2010, I had a total of 21 books read. { DW || LJ }

The Read in 2011 List
  1. Turn the Other Chick edited by Esther M. Friesner
Lots of fun short stories. Good read!
  2. Sword and Sorceress V edited by Marion Zimmer Bradley
One day I'll have this entire series of books. I was stoked to find this particular book.
  3. The Door in the Hedge by Robin McKinley
What a great set of stories to read. I was particularly in love with the title story. It's absolutely fascinating and sucked me in almost immediately.
  4. People of the Longhouse by W. Michael Gear & Kathleen O'Neal Gear
Seriously, I just cannot say enough good things about this entire series of books by the Gears. I am completely and utterly sucked into them from the first word to the last. And this one was no exception to that rule. That this is part of a 4 book "miniseries" is like candy for me!
  5. The Chick is in the Mail edited by Esther M. Friesner
Another round of fun stories to read. I love reading about women being awesome!
  6. Deryni Tales edited by Katherine Kurtz
This was totally a re-read, but that's very much par for the course with my Dernyi universe novels.
  7. Best Lesbian Bondage Erotica edited by Tristan Taormino
There were some good stories in this book and some clunkers. Thankfully, the good stories outweighed the clunkers...
  8. Ariel: The Restored Edition: A Facsimile of Plath's Manuscript, Reinstating Her Original Selection and Arrangement (P.S.)
    by Sylvia Plath, Frieda Hughes
I don't know that there's enough I could say about this book without turning into a blathering idiot. I have loved Sylvia Plath's work since I was about 13yo or so, particularly Ariel. Reading the poems as she originally intended her manuscript to be has been a thrill. Also, reading some of the information that Frieda gave in her forward and in the additional info at the end was very eye-opening.
  9. Marion Zimmer Bradley's Sword and Sorceress XXIV edited by Elisabeth Waters
The latest one in the long series. I think. There might be a more recent one. I'd have to check. But I am loving the stories, just like I always do. And, like always now, every time I read one of these anthologies, I miss MZB...
  10. People of the Nightland by W. Michael Gear & Kathleen O'Neal Gear
Yet another in this fantastic series/universe. I cannot get enough of these books.
  11. Uncle John's Presents: Book of the Dumb by John Scalzi
A book full of stories similar to the Darwin Awards series of books. Great bathroom reading!
  12. The Darwin Awards by Wendy Northcutt
This whole series of books is great bathroom reading!
  13. The Druid Animal Oracle by Philip and Stephanie Carr-Gomm
This is a really interesting oracle deck to work with. And all the history and folklore in the book is wonderful.
  14. Marion Zimmer Bradley's Sword & Sorceress XXII edited by Elisabeth Waters
If they continue to offer these, I will get something submitted one of these years. Until then, I will continue to read the wonderful stories in the various anthologies.
  15. People of the Wolf by W. Michael Gear & Kathleen O'Neal Gear
Re-reading the entire series in publication order.
  16. People of the Fire by W. Michael Gear & Kathleen O'Neal Gear
Re-reading the entire series in publication order.
  17. People of the Earth by W. Michael Gear & Kathleen O'Neal Gear
Re-reading the entire series in publication order.
  18. People of the Lakes by W. Michael Gear & Kathleen O'Neal Gear
Re-reading the entire series in publication order.
  19. People of the Sea by W. Michael Gear & Kathleen O'Neal Gear
Re-reading the entire series in publication order.
  20. What's the Number For 911?: America's Wackiest 911 Calls by Leland H. Gregory III
    More bathroom reading to amuse...
  21. Mary, Called Magdalene by Margaret George
Wow! What a truly fascinating book! I have a not-so-secret obsession with Mary Magdalene, so getting this book was fantastic. I was completely sucked into the storyline from the very first word to the very last. I'll reread this again in the future, that's for sure.
  22. Imzadi Forever by Peter David
I finally got the chance to read Imzadi II: Triangle and found it rather seriously lacking, particularly because I'd been expecting so much more out of a sequel to Imzadi. Then I read the interview with PAD at the end of the book and found out how it really wasn't supposed to be a sequel, and I changed my mind a bit on the book. It's still not a major favorite, and I doubt I'll ever read it again, but it was good for what it was.
  23. Out of Oz by Gregory Maguire
You know what? All I'm going to say is that my basic review is over here. I'll start crying again if I actually start to write about this book. SO. DAMNED. MUCH. LOVE.
  24. Winter Moon by Mercedes Lackey, Tanith Lee, C.E. Murphy
What a fascinating trilogy of stories! The last in particular is interesting, and is making me want to check out the other books in that series.
  25. The Inheritor by Marion Zimmer Bradley
Paranormal activity? In the San Francisco area? And written by MZB? Dude, I am SO there! It was a pretty damned interesting book by the end of it, which I finished the morning of New year's Eve. I'm thinking that I may be having to get some of the other books that were written in this vein, as I found this one quite fascinating.
The Currently Reading in 2011 List
  1. New Lesbian Sex Book by Wendy Caster
It's a mini-encyclopedia/dictionary of lesbian sex terms and interviews. Very interesting info...
  2. What's the Number For 911 Again? by Leland Gregory
I have no idea what I'm going to do when I get through all of the books of this type in the house... LOL!
The Currently Stalled from 2010 List
  1. The Ode Less Travelled by Stephen Fry
  2. Color Intuition Kit by Laura Alden Kamm
  3. Have You Seen My Country Lately? by Jerry Doyle
  4. Life's Companion: Journal Writing as a Spiritual Practice by Christina Baldwin
  5. Kink Magic: Sex Magic Beyond Vanilla by Taylor Ellwood & Lupa
  6. The Sapphic Companion by Margaret Reynolds
  7. Earth Spirit Living : Bringing Heaven and Nature into Your Home by Ann Marie Holmes
  8. A Handbook of Chakra Healing: Spiritual Practice for Health, Harmony and Inner Peace by Kalashatra Govinda
  9. An Enchanted Life : An Adept's Guide to Masterful Magick by Patricia Telesco
    I got this book from
lupabitch and am working it through it slowly. I'm a sucker for Telesco's books, have been ever since I read her A Kitchen Witch's Cookbook, which I really need to start using again. And this is a nice "Witchcraft 201" book, as opposed to all of the 101 books out there. There are definitely things I can work with in this book, and that's a very good thing.
  10. The Secret Teachings of Mary Magdalene: Including the Lost Verses of The Gospel of Mary, Revealed and Published for the First Time by Claire Nahmad, Margaret Bailey
I actually started this one in 2008, but didn't get very far on it...
The To Be Read in 2012 List [So Far]
  1. Deerskin by Robin McKinley
  2. Ice: A Memoir of Gangster Life and Redemption-from South Central to Hollywood by Ice-T & Douglas Century
