As unhappy as I was at the end of the last school year, I don't think I truly understood the depths of my depression until I managed to climb my way out of that seemingly bottomless pit of frustration and hopelessness.

Long story short - one of my friends (Billy - my Jacob-like best friend) invited me to hang out with some of his friends at a "winter beach party" a couple weekends ago.
