Tech Help?

So, dig this. This problem started up quite a while ago, and I haven't found any way to fix it yet. On my EeePC, when the "start" menu button is pressed on-screen, the windows menu pops up. This is on a laptop? I have issues with a 'touchy' mouse pad on my old Dell. If it's one that can be safely disassembled, cleaning with alcohol, & blowing out dust 'may' help.. Or destroy it utterly. No real clues past my own experiences.

Yes, a netbook to be precise. The OS rollback unsuccessful, it leads me to believe it's not OS related, but I dunno how it would always cause the search function to work.

That does give me an idea, though....
