Sounds like the not having Excedrin for a while caused a sensitivity to the crap in it. Have you been eating healthy and/or sleeping well? It might be a "total load" thing where your body can't handle the extra toxins (for lack of a better word). One could suggest you try a lower doseage if possible or a different med (like aspirin or tylenol, for example) but it's up to what your body can tolerate. Excedrin does have propylene glycol in it, which is the active ingredient in automotive anti-freeze, so I personally steer clear of it.
I've been eating and sleeping as well as ever, although it still might be a "total load" thing, what with the job and resulting necessary evils of ventilation systems and cleaning chemicals (not that either are at all bad, as these things go, but they're unavoidable).
I'll have to look into other drugs. The problem with aspirin or tylenol is that they don't really do anything for me. Aspirin will take care of a feaver, Tylenol *might* help a little with a headache, but acetaminaphin is (I think) my wonder drug.
I looked at the active ingredients on Excedrin and they are: Acetaminophen 250 mg, Aspirin 250 mg, and Caffeine 65 mg, so you might try acetaminophen (generic name for Tylenol, but you probably knew that) and caffeine or some such.
For whatever reason, I had forgotten that Tylenol is acetaminophen and not ibuprofen. That makes me wonder, then, why Excedrin works so well for me. Tylenol does absolutely nothing, even for my headaches.
i second daddy in stopping the excedrin and seeing if that helps. tylenol is acetaminafen and asprin is that funny long word and motrin is ibuprofen. right? and tylenol and ibuprofen are both hard on the liver and you should never have alcol iwth them. i am not sure about asprin.
and yes you could notice it more cuz you have not had any in a while. that is called unmasking and it is a GOOD thing cause it is a better showing what is not good for you. it was still hurting your body before but the simptoms was masked cause your body never got a chance to get over it.
it stinks but mcs is part of cfs is part of fibro. dr wu told chris that a long time ago. if you have more pain and go to a dr who treats pain you mostly will get dxed with fibro. if you have more esausted and go to a dr for that you will get dxed with cfs and if you have more chemacal sensativities and go to a dr for that you get dxed for mcs, but pretty much everybodywith any of them has the other simptoms to, just not as bad as the primary ones. hughughug from the monsa
Thank you for letting me know about unmasking. It's always good (or at least useful, even if it's bloody annoying at times) to know what my body has decided it will or won't tolerate, at any time.
Yes, Tylenol is acetaminophen, motrin is ibuprofen, and aspirin is acetylsalicylic acid. I'm not sure what to take instead of Excedrin, though, if I need something. Not that I take *any* of it that often, or at all if I don't absolutely have to. I never have. But Tylenol and aspirin don't seem to have much, if any, effect for me.
