Good point, and one that should have also been in my points against the idea.
They HAVE been pushing the kids to choose their life early, like in Jr. High (here in Florida). They want them to "declare" by High School, and have made the rules for college so changing majors means huge increase in cost (limits on hours). They want people to make their choices young, and if they're wrong, too bad.
Of course, the kids are hearing things like how little the Social Sciences pay, and how much need there is for engineers, business managers, nurses, and so on. Ditto for degrees in the arts, and I know they also hear how difficult it is to get jobs in careers like physics. (Never mind STEM.)
