I'd write a letter to the editor, but there has been some fussing about red-light cameras and talk of putting them on school buses (for people who pass them when they're picking up or dropping off kids) and I wanted my 2 cents worth out. The red-light cameras have been shown time and time again to decrease safety (USF did a study and that was the clear outcome) and are just money-makers that hit the poor and middle class the hardest ($260 tickets, even for just stopping over the line). I may see two or three people in a year - when I'm driving a lot in town like back when I was in business - run a red light (and it IS stupid). I regularly see people passing school buses which are dropping off or picking up students, yet there has been little focus on that real problem.
