Bruce-fest: Canon for the deluded

Nov 04, 2006 06:02

Evening, ladies and gentlemen. I want to welcome you to tonight's event: Bruce-fest, Canon for the Deluded, in which you'll find an assortment of canon scans that make up my view of Bruce Wayne/Batman as a character. A warning must be made before you enter the lj-cut: My Bruce is sane, fun, well-adjusted, a good parent, a stand up guy and friend. ( Read more... )

There's nothing like a fantastic entry like this one to remind everyone of why Bruce is so awesome. :) I really enjoyed this entry.

Also, what's the context behind the scan of Batman in Jim's backyard all woobie-like? :/

I'm glad you enjoyed the Bruce-fest. There's tons of more appropiate scans somewher around my laptop, but I can't find them! at some point I decided I should organize everything, as as usual, once they were organized, they wre lost. Lol.

...I have no idea of the contest of Batman in Jim's backyard :( I don't remember which issue it is from... I stole it from scans daily. ....sooorry!

I believe this is from No Man's Land. I'm not sure. And it is So! The! Woobie! The next scene has Batman offering to reveal his face to Jim and Jim's all like, "I'm not going to look! I don't need to see your face!" I think the shot is of Jim with his eyes closed and back turned, and behind him is Batman with the cowl half-off, and you can see Bruce's miserable face and...oh. It's so sad. I love that scene and I've only gotten it from scans_daily as well.

These are just lovely, Mina. I really need to start collecting my Superman ones as well, you're right. Okay, that might be my project during my slowdown...although really I need the Bruce ones more, but you've done so well here! I'll keep looking for more, though...it's a neverending quest.

Hrm, sadly, it isn't NML's, the scene you speak of has much less pretty art, though its full of woobie too :P I think Jim and Bats simply have this woobie-intense partnership. If you ever feel like getting NML, Jen, I think you would like vol. 4 the most! it has the Superman making it rain for Batman bit, and that bit with Jim, the wonderful story with Leslie and Szasz and a great, great story with Harvey and Renee Montoya. It's my favorite of the five, though the Ground Zero story from vol. 5 is one of my favorites too...

Ahem. Yes! Make an archive for Clark! I think I will start consciously building my Bruce gallery, this was all saved in random moments of 'ooh! pretty!'. For one, I'm missing awesome moments of male bonding, and that can't be right :)

I'll have my Bruce call your Bruce, see what happens. Thoguh, I must warn you, my Bruce is quite the whore... :P

I do not know who this Miller person is. Lalalala.

Can I just share the love.
And the love fer Dick. 'Cause that Dick. The one who appreciates Bruce despite his time to time asshatery (he knows Miller got his hands on Bruce), the one who was born to be in the center ring. That one. That is my Dick.
I love you, Dick. Must write Nightwing/Hiro Nakamura slash. Must. The hero joy and love and wheeeeee!

Oh, and I like your Bruce. He should meet my Bruce some time. I think they would rock the party that rocks something something.

The shared love for Dick is very much enjoyed here. I'm so happy to hear you say he quit being Robin and was not fired! hooray for retcons! as it should be, dammit. Firing Dick because he could get hurt and then getting a new boy was the most idiotic, illogical thing they could give Batman at the moment.

As you can see from my posts, that Dick is my Dick too. Center of the stage, future lider of all superherodom Dick. Dick who loves Bruce and loves Clark and loves pretty much everyone he crosses paths with. Dick the big brother to Tim, not suicidal or crazy Dick.

Stop taunting me with Heroes, too!! I can't see it 'til next year, when it airs here! or I could download the epis, buuuut... but I want to see it with my brother on the TV. You all are making me crave that series so much!

Our Bruce's can meet anytime. Just have his secretary call my Bruce's secretary and I'm sure we can work out a date. Or! have your Alfred call my Alfred. Much madness would ensue!

C'mon, c'mon get into the sickness!

Oh, and now that Dick quit being Robin rather than being fired, my feelings about Bruce as a father have improved...

*shares the love* A fantastic selection of scans! These are among my favorites, too.

From the same storyline of "I can handle despair":

J'onn: " Isolation, hopelessness, emptyness.."
Bruce: "Sounds like my last date."

Lol, humor in a 'we're all going to die' situation is perfectly Batman to me. Also, the idea of Bruce narrating his date as he narrastes his books cracks me up. "This was Linda, a pretty debutante fresh from the full Paris experience. She knew nothing of Paris, in truth. She knew nothing of the world, she couldn't. There I sat... isolated, hopeless, alone in that full restaurant while she prattled away... my city needed me, and yet I could not heed her call. Linda had a part in the big scheme and I... I couldn't be more bored. Where's Two Face when you need him..."

First that incredible essay by DaMo, and now this?
*can die happy now*

Wow, Mina, these are just... amazing! *bows down in reverence* May I friend you?

I *knew* the Bruce in my head existed in canon. He's just hiding far far away from Miller. This is how he and the reast and the Batclan are meant to be, damnit. They might fight and snark and bitch, but they're *family*.

I must be the only person on the world that doesn't blame Bruce for Tower of Babel. No you aren't! I completely agreed with B’s countermeasures. In his position, I would have done the same. When you have two aliens with batshit insane powers, a goddess, a guy who can literally split atoms with his ring, another who can move almost at the speed of light, another who is lord and master of most of the Earth’s surface, and possibly the most intelligent, ruthless man on this planet, all in a position of considerable power, it is downright *stupid* not to have checks and balances against them. Did he eff up by not telling them about it? Undoubtedly. However, he also ( ... )

I'm glad you enjoyed the scans! I kept leafing through my folders during the boring classes and started noticing that I always save the ones where Bruce is not being sucky. Which amounted to this!

I friended you back! weee!

No you aren't! I completely agreed with B’s countermeasures. In his position, I would have done the same.

*hugs you* I knew I wasn't alone! I know it's a crappy thing to do, to have a file on how to bring down your friends, but the stakes are/were too high not to. And looking at it the other way around: if some of them ad gone rogue, and the rest had turned to Batman for strategic consultation, I would have felt cheated if he didn't know what to do. There has to be a lot of files on himself, too. It's just who the man is.

However, he also redeemed himself and more, becoming one of the most *human* versions of the Bat I’ve ever seen in the comics.I agree, totally. He screwed up by having the file somewhere where it could be stolen, but... it's not so crazy to have it somewhere outside his head, I think. If the ( ... )
