I was going to be a Bartholomew if I had been a boy. I often wonder where Mom pulled that name from since I can't even think of anyone with that as their name besides the Apostle and Bart Simpson.

Huh! that's an uncommon name! I like it, though, but you're right that it's not very common... do you think you would have been very different as a boy?

I think I would have been a bit different but I can't put my finger on how exactly. I think being raised by a single mother and my Grandma would have changed me somewhat if I had been a boy. And I'm thinking the fights I had with my Stepdad while I was a teenager might have been worse. But I like to think I would have been basically the same.

LOL, I do have to wonder if I would have been a girlier boy given that I'm much of a tomboy... though, with two older brothers, probably not, and I would just be even more of a geek..

I love the name you would have had! Both names are really beautiful.

I was going to be named Leo if I were a boy, supposedly after a great-uncle who was a priest, but I suspect it was because Leo was the name of the protagonist in one of my dad's favorite books, The Go-Between.

In middle school, I would have been teased mercilessly at the height of Titanic's popularity when all of the girls were obsessed with Leonardo Dicaprio.

I have a feeling I would have not dated at all in high school and would have tried harder to get in to a university far away. I may have remained a theater major.

I also have a feeling I would have been gay.

LOL, I'm glad you didn't turn out a Leo so you could save yourself the embarrassment during the Titanic madness.. though, sometimes it seems as thought life would have been easier as a boy, doesn't it?

I suspect I would have been bi as a guy as well. Which.. would have probably be more of a hassle as a boy than as a girl... theater major! I think you would have been/would be a terrific theater actor/director/scriptwriter :) may I ask why didn't you pursue it further?

It does. I mean, do guys go out for a walk around the neighborhood at night and jump at every shadow that moves because they're afraid that it's some creep who is going to jump out of the bushes and rape them? I doubt it. And then there's the whole being able to get away with doing less about your appearance and yet still being considered attractive thing. However, I think I would be terrifically ugly as a guy.

I've been thinking about this question for the past couple of days and I still can't come up with a satisfactory answer. I mean, theater was my thing in high school. Sure, I was in the band and known for being good at English, but I participated in every play my school put on, even if it was just ( ... )

I'd have been named Andrew, which is also my uncle's middle name. So I'd share that, rather than a name with a cousin.

Sometimes I think life would have been easier as a boy, but who knows? And the boys I've known named Andrew have all been weird. I wonder if I'd have been an Andy or not--my name doesn't shorten easily, so it'd be weird to have a name that does.

Hmm, I dunno if I'd be closer to my dad or not as a boy. But actually my mom said if I had been a boy they'd have had another kid, so I wouldn't be an only child, I'd have a younger sibling. *That* would be weird. I'd still have the bigger bedroom, though, which is clearly what's important. :)

I also feel sometimes that life as a boy would have been easier in many ways, though.. probably when I was younger, yes, but maybe not so much now that I'm older.

Having a sibling would have really changed things! why didn't it matter that you were an only child if you were a girl, do you know? Did they wanted a girl and were going to keep trying until they had one?

My mom was looking at it as a "pal around" angle, I believe. A son wouldn't be someone who wanted to be her friend as much as a girl would, you know? I certainly don't go out and hit the town (lunch, movies, shopping) with my dad.

My dad only wanted one kid. Fortunately I happened to be a girl, fulfilling my mom's wish, and then they didn't have to have another kid. If they had had two boys they probably wouldn't have tried for a girl after that.

I think my dad liked the name Xavier ... weirdly. I don't think I would've been very different. Better-looking, maybe, like my brother, and taller. And I wouldn't have been very good academically, and so would've gotten sent to boarding school ... like my brother, lol.

Would not be an artist because I would not have liked to watch Powerpuff girls or read Archie comics.

I would currently be studying business in the UK. :| And I'd get on REALLY well with my mum.

Better looking, she ways. Like she's not super pretty already...

:P

Lol, do you think you would have gotten along with your brother if you both had been boys? My brothers are pretty antagonistic with each other..

Studying business and no art! D: Total loss for the world!

Hey, my brother's kind of prettier than I am, lol. It makes sense in my head!

I think I'd pretty much get along with my brother. Right now, he and I have a kind of 50% friendship 50% actual sibling rivalry thing, so it'd be basically the same. ;)
