By this tattoo,

When you speak

with that devilish tongue of yours,

You make me want to believe

That everything I know,

Everything I fear

Is falling.

My most heartfelt expressions

Seem to disappear

When you’re around.

Why must I feel so torn?

You’ve withered me to the bones,

How did we get here?

A mermaid
carries herself gracefully
bounding across the night sky,
Becoming enraptured in its iridescent embrace,
trailing the stars,
jumping from one to the next.
Her tresses flowing behind
like a heavenly, sparkling lace
over a veiled, silver moon.

Arms outstretched, eyes closed in wonder,
She takes in its depths.
A clam opens in her palms

Stronger, stronger still
powerful hilt
of willpower and focus.

A knight charges
bravely into battle
no regrets.

The moon shines on
an old scar
crescent-shaped like
the new moon
"A battle long ago
and I have no regrets."

Early phases shine down
and he smiles in pride.
"No regrets....no regrets."

Erratic lens
focus, refocus
get the right size
right width, right style, right height, and....
right smile.

Right lighting, mood, act
the perfect portrait
of a lovely couple.

And across the world
two people stand
in front of a fountain
dreaming of the future and the past.

All the lonely nights they shared.
