GRE Woes

I take the GREs this Thursday at about 2pm. I've been studying like a madman for about a month and a half now. However, I am starting to freak out. The more I study, the worse my practice scores get ( Read more... )

it sounds as though you are psyching yourself out... maybe talk to a psychologist at your school about this and they will give you tips on anxiety management. that is the one thing school psychologist are actually good at/for

1)the first ten questions in each section are the most important, so take your time with them.
2)Don't take practice tests right before the exam - the exact same thing happened to me due to anxiety. When I went in on test day I ended up getting a score not as high as my best practice tests, but still pretty high up there. and...nothing like the abysmally scary scores I started to get the day before test day.

If you're down to the wire, review your vocab, and do some of the workouts on number2.com. If you've studied for a month, you'll do great! I hate this test too ;) Good luck!

Try to be as zen as you can in the test. I know that that's really hard. If you do yoga or meditation that might help ( ... )

The first five questions in each section are the most important. These are the ones that determine the level of difficulty for the next set of questions. So, (assuming you've been doing computer tests) if you felt that you really knew what you were doing and that you were getting questions right but your score was going down, then probably what happened is that you got some of these first 5 questions incorrect and the test sent you to a lower level of difficulty that don't give you as many points ( ... )
