I take the GREs this Thursday at about 2pm. I've been studying like a madman for about a month and a half now. However, I am starting to freak out. The more I study, the worse my practice scores get

According to Kaplan (which actually records how many times you change answers and stuff, which is cool!) I have been changing a lot more answers than I *thought* I was. Guess we'll just have to trust my first instincts. :-)
Good luck to you, too! This test is possibly the WORST experience of my academic life. Seriously, someday when I work at a university, I'm going to get onto the admissions committee just to say "F this test! That person with the 810 cum rocks and needs to come here!"
The test made me frustrated as well, and I can't believe I devoted that much time to studying for it. I seriously can't believe this is a hoop we have to jump through. Papers may be frustrating, but you're learning, crafting, creating.
Not so with this test. I've yet to hear a convincing argument about why it still exists as part of entrance requirements.
Granted, maybe I'm biased because I'm currently in the throes of "HOLY SHIT WHAT IS THIS I DON'T EVEN!", but I have a feeling that 6 months from now, I will feel very similarly to how I feel right now.
I'm so sorry to hear this. :-( Seriously, this test is ridiculous, and I can't figure out how it even REMOTELY applies to graduate study. I thought graduate study was about critical thought, and synthesis, and questioning the information given. This test is sort of the anti-graduate thought process.
Or at least, completely anti-what I THOUGHT graduate school was about.
Good luck on your next test. Seriously, kick its butt. :-)
(PS: I deleted a couple of comments; I don't know if it comes up saying I deleted them or not, but they were spam (for Nike, actually), and I was tired of scrolling past them. :-) Hope that's OK!)
hi there! i, too, took a few practice tests before the real deal and scored INCREDIBLY low on them. my first test, which i took through a free Kaplan event, i scored less than a 1000 (and i FREAKED OUT!). on my actual GREs, i scored over 400 points higher. so, don't let those tests discourage you, and don't play mind games with yourself. i tell all of my friends who are taking the GREs not to let the practice tests worry you! a lot of other people have said this too, but: go in with confidence, eat well, sleep well, and stay calm. bring a snack to eat in between, and plan a fun post-test afternoon. good luck!

Yesterday I took a math practice test, and the score made me cry and throw the book across the room.
