First off, to start with something bizarre. SORT OF NOT WORK SAFE, you have been warned: http://www.bmezine.com/news/guest/20070818.html, via boingboing. Bizarre story about a certain person who was the father of a certain person everyone knows. It's sort of weird, cause father and son seem to be total opposites. Is the iPhone really worth getting? I'm thinking of saving up for it.

I guess it depends on what you're looking for. I've sold off some things that the iPhone is replacing, so ultimately it wasn't expensive - I was already with at&t and my plan pricing hasn't changed except by $5-10ish, and the iPods+pdas etc. (some that I got for free anyway, through apple back-to-school promos) add up pretty fast :)

Then there's the whole thing of not having to buy missing sync or any other similar app that doesn't suck at syncing with Macs, and having all my stuff on my phone...

So for me it was worth it, I like my iPhone. It didn't cost too much in the end. It's not for everyone though.

Yeah, I'm already with Cingular/AT&T so it's just the cost of the phone I'm worried about.

Mostly, I've only used my cellphone as a phone (obviously lawlz), calendar, notes & reminders, and alarm clock. I know it has web functionality, but I'm not really interested in it. However, since it acts as a media player as well, it would pretty much replace my iPod nano as well.

I'm...not sure. The data plan is a required $20 addon (although it comes with 200 texts, add a bit more for more/unlimited, so it replaces any messaging thing you might have already) because voicemail and other things use it for some inexplicable reason ( ... )
