This was wonderful! Gabrielle is also one of my favourites, because she's so well-rounded as a character without having to have a Very Special Issue; she works in both politics and with superheroes; her connections with Charles and Magnus are both personal and political. I have always liked that Gabrielle is very determined that things are done in a just and fair way and gives no quarter just because she knows someone...until it comes to her son.

Thank you so much for reading it! I wrote this I'm just about to start posting an FC fic with her in it, and I felt it was a rant worth having. I agree with all the things you mentioned, in particular that bias when it comes to David, which I find very realistic. Also, her professionalism makes my heart flutter (and it's not all to do with how good-looking she is in that suit.)

I also love Gabrielle! It's great to see such an in depth exploration of her portrayal and history. Isn't it disappointing we haven't seen her in a while, even as Legion has been reintroduced and has had an arc all about him not so long ago? *grumbles*

You make a lot of great point about how well rounded and strong a character she is ♥

I agree it's disappointing (even if chronology-wise, I can see they have a bit of a problem. With Magneto, they can claim that his mutation makes him age slower than normal, but Gabrielle Haller is by rights in her 80s now. Then again, time works oddly in comics.) I once saw a list of the best lawyers in comics, and she was among them, with the comment that "even if she's never had her own comic, she is really cool" and so forth. But that's made me fixate on that idea, so now all I want is just a few well-written, well-drawn issues of Gaby prosecuting war criminals and doing diplomacy and being awesome.

Glad you enjoyed my meta!

Magneto has the was-once-aged down-then-aged up to his excuse, mainly.

But yeah, it is an issue, but it is one with Legion too to some extent. They should just use some comic book nonsense to solve it like they did with Wanda & Pietro :p

Hahaha, yeah I'd love to see an issue where she was up as a lawyer!! Perhaps something with She-Hulk or Daredevil to play it up :) And the diplomacy side as a lot of potential too.

isn't legion like franklin, though? he's enough of a powerhouse that he probably can look however old he wishes if he can just find the right power in the box of cats that is his mind.

I love Gabrielle a lot, too.
And I'm happy she still appears in comics, without being linked to Xavier, Legion, or even Magneto - I hadn't read this X-Force issue - but I'm still sad Legion didn't even mention her when there was an arc about his development recently.

:D
I haven't read the new Legion arc. What issues is that in? I'm not very up on the really new stuff.

Hmmm... Legion comes back in the New Mutants relaunch and is quite important in the first 1-5 issues, then he features in another arc but mainly as a plot device... then there's Age of X, the crossover New Mutants/X-men Legacy, and then the arc I was thinking about... Age of X Aftermath, then Lost Legions. It must be X-men Legacy 248-253.

this was a lovely read, thank you so much fro writing.

A little confusingly, in this alternative universe Gaby ends up married to Magneto.

it made me laugh because it reminded me of amelia. i don't know if magneto ever got chummy with lilandra, but i think he appreciates charles' taste in women.

Thank you for reading it!

I thought Amelia was just part of the Acolytes - do they have a thing going on?
Re: Magnus/Gaby, though, I must admit that I really ship it, in a "this is the worst idea ever but still it's amazing" way. (In fact, I have a bit of a thing for the three of them in a kind of ménage à trois.)

That was cool! I love that she's a chain smoker haha. PS Rio tells me you're stuck in Cambridge all summer but that her house is open. Make sure she makes you something in her shaker! *nom nom the Lady and her mixed drinks* ^^

I like the chain-smoking too. It's a good little detail.

I will - thanks! :D
