this was a lovely read, thank you so much fro writing.

A little confusingly, in this alternative universe Gaby ends up married to Magneto.

it made me laugh because it reminded me of amelia. i don't know if magneto ever got chummy with lilandra, but i think he appreciates charles' taste in women.

Thank you for reading it!

I thought Amelia was just part of the Acolytes - do they have a thing going on?
Re: Magnus/Gaby, though, I must admit that I really ship it, in a "this is the worst idea ever but still it's amazing" way. (In fact, I have a bit of a thing for the three of them in a kind of ménage à trois.)

I, hrm, may be writing that. Or rather, have written. There will be fic.

i don't think so, no! i didn't mean to imply the chummy as in romantic, just in the sense that he seems to approve of charles' taste in women in general because he became friends of sorts with both gaby and amelia. with the exception of moira, i guess.

Magnus/Gaby, though, I must admit that I really ship it, in a "this is the worst idea ever but still it's amazing" way.

i just find the mental image of charles' face turning into the forever alone meme hilarious in that What If, tbh.

And they're both fond of Jean. But yeah, Magneto's not very fond of Moira. Rather, he likes comparing her to Josef Mengele.

I was so disappointed that they spent no time on that. Charles seemed to think it was completely alright that Magneto married his girlfriend... Then again, he gets to play baseball with Fury. (And there are some other good things in that story, such as Mystique and Wolverine being a team and a couple.)

lol right? i think he just thought that was preferable to witnessing his buddy go over the edge and be completely consumed by anger. losing a gf to him and having to put up with his new deplorable fashion sense were small prices to pay, i guess.

Oh God, the fashion sense. Argh. I wish that it seemed less like Gaby was just a beard, but... I just can't convince myself. But yes, of all the people he could loose a girlfriend too, probably the one he'd choose. Besides, he might well feel that there are parts of their lives he just can't understand. Still, I have a distinct feeling that a marriage between Erik and Gaby would end up involving a lot of crushed porcelain.

i feel a marriage with charles would end up more or less the same way, tbh. no matter how you combine the three, they're all better off with plastic utensils in their household imo.

Indeed. They have enough issues separately. Bringing them together... Not the best idea (which doesn't stop my shipping it, of course. Ah, the joys of fictional sadism.)

Magneto actually has no problem with Moira until he discovers that she tried to alter his genome to get rid of his mental illness (Adjectiveless X-Men 1-3). He misinterprets this outrageously as her attempting to brainwash him (this is the only interpretation that makes sense, because the comics make a total hash of it; Moira says she was trying to remove an instability caused by his powers, Magneto says she was trying to brainwash him, and then he demands that she do the same thing to the X-Men on pain of death, and what she does to them *is* brainwash them... and ever since then Marvel has been claiming that Moira brainwashed Magneto to be "good." This is ableist, nonsensical and just plain wrong; you can't brainwash people to be good by altering their genetic code, and if you have a baby, you brainwash the baby by *raising* him differently, not by messing with his genes, and curing someone of their mental illness does not make them "good", nor does it brainwash them. Plus, Magneto was actually incredibly nasty, violent, cruel and ( ... )

Amelia dated Charles long before becoming an Acolyte - she was his nurse when he first injured his spine, came back to the US with him, but she dumped him when he decided to form the X-Men because she thought it was a terrible idea. Uncanny X-Men #309 is the issue!

I do know that - #309 is one of my favourite issues. "They" in this case was Magneto and Amelia, not Charles and Amelia.

*headdesk* Of course you did! Actually I was surprised you didn't - me misreading the comment makes much more sense!
