Woohyun was still dead passed out in Sunggyu’s bed by the time Sunggyu finished making breakfast. He loomed over Woohyun, holding the tray until the orange juice started to shake.
“Yah. Wake up before I dump breakfast on you.” Sunggyu nudged the bed with his good leg a few times. Woohyun whined and rolled over onto his side, away from Sunggyu.
“Five more minutes,” he mumbled sleepily. “Just give me five more minutes...”
“In five minutes, your food will be cold, and you’ll be forced to eat cereal instead of a nice, hot breakfast that I slaved over all morning for you.” Sunggyu watched and waited as Woohyun groaned, rolling back over to face Sunggyu. He blinked his eyes a few times, then hit his face a few times to wake up.
“I’m up. I’m up.” He sat up and smacked his lips together as Sunggyu placed the tray down in front of him.
“I could get used to this.” Woohyun smiled sleepily as Sunggyu leaned over to kiss him on the forehead.
“Don’t you have maids and servants or something to do this for you?” Sunggyu asked as he made his way over to his closet. He grabbed a towel and dug through his clothes for something to wear.
“Well, yeah, but they’re not you.” Woohyun took a bite of his food and savored it like it was the best thing he’d ever tasted in his life.
“You flatter me,” Sunggyu said, raising an eyebrow as he made his way over to his bathroom. He threw his stuff onto the toilet and started to brush his teeth.
“Sunggyu!” Woohyun called from his bed. Sunggyu stuck his head out of the bathroom, still brushing his teeth.
“Did you want to do something today? Or just stay in?” Sunggyu turned his eyes towards the ceiling in thought before ducking into the bathroom again. Woohyun continued to eat as he heard the faucet turn on.
“Uh, whatever is fine with me. The whole group hasn’t hung out in a while so maybe we can all hang out or something.” Sunggyu’s voice echoed out from the bathroom as Woohyun checked his phone.
“I’ll send a text to Tweedle Dumb and Tweedle dumber and see if they’re doing anything today. We probably won’t get an answer until the afternoon, because they were probably up late last night ‘celebrating’.” Sunggyu stuck his head back out of the bathroom to see Woohyun making air quotes with his fingers, a piece of bacon in his mouth.
He pulled his head back in and turned on the water in the shower before heading back out to his bed, grabbing his phone from under his pillow.
“I’ll text Myungsoo and Sungyeol... I wonder how their sleep over went. You think Myungsoo stripped them in their sleep again?” Woohyun snorted into his orange juice, coughing as he put the glass back down on his tray.
“Don’t say stuff like that while I’m drinking!” he said in between coughs.
“Just a thought.” Sunggyu smiled as he sent texts to the respective people. He threw his phone onto his pillow and headed back towards the bathroom, pulling his shirt off.
“Whoo, take it off! Take it all off!” Woohyun cheered from the bed. Sunggyu glanced over his shoulder to give him a strange look before disappearing into the bathroom.
“What? Is it a crime that I want to see my boyfriend naked?”
“Woohyun!”
“Just saying!”
--
It was warm. And it was comfortable. Sungyeol heard something vibrate off in the distance, but he was too comfortable to move. Whatever it was, it could wait.
“Your phone went off,” Myungsoo murmured sleepily.
“I know.” Neither of them opened their eyes or moved. There were some beeping noises coming from Myungsoo’s bed.
“There goes your phone.”
“I know.” They still didn’t move. Sungyeol sighed and tightened his grip on Myungsoo waist, feeling skin as he moved slightly.
“Your shirt’s gone.”
“So is yours.” Myungsoo sighed and turned around to face Sungyeol, burying his face into his chest. He opened his eyes slightly before smiling and poking Sungyeol in the stomach. Sungyeol flinched.
“What was that for?” he whined, rubbing his stomach.
“Baby fat.” Sungyeol sighed and lifted up the blankets.
“Still wearing pants.”
“Oh darn,” Myungsoo said sarcastically. Sungyeol grinned at him before rolling over onto his back and reaching for his phone. He strained a little bit to reach it, but managed to pull it closer to him. He opened up the text.
“Sunggyu wants to know if all of us want to hang out today. He says it’s been a while.” Myungsoo rolled over onto his stomach and propped himself up onto his elbow, scratching at his head.
“I guess it has been a while. The rest of us see each other at school everyday, but he’s stuck at home so...” Sungyeol replied to his text and threw his phone back onto the table.
“You’re so abusive to your phone. I’m surprised it hasn’t broken yet.” Myungsoo yawned before glancing towards his window and squinting his eyes.
“In a way, I am too. I think my phone likes it though, or else it would’ve broken a long time ago.” Myungsoo rolled over again so he was lying awkwardly on top of Sungyeol, bare back against bare chest.
“Get off me. Help me find my shirt.” Sungyeol pushed half-heartedly at Myungsoo.
“In a second. When did you say we were going to go meet up with them?”
“Later in the day.”
“Oh. In that case, five more minutes.”
--
Dongwoo and Hoya were tangled up in the sheets together. There were clothes scattered all over the room, and they were most definitely naked. Their phones were going off repeatedly, alerting them of new messages, but they were drowned out by the sounds of snoring.
--
Woohyun finished eating while Sunggyu was in the shower, so he took the tray and dishes to the kitchen sink, dumping them in there for someone to clean up later. Probably Sunggyu. He wandered back into Sunggyu’s room and plopped onto the bed.
While waiting for Sunggyu to finish, he heard Sunggyu’s phone go off. He reached for it and checked the messages.
From: Yeolie
Sure. Let’s hang out later in the afternoon.
Woohyun grinned before grabbing his phone and adding Sungyeol’s number to his contacts. Just in case he ever needed to contact him, definitely not for prank calling purposes. Definitely not.
There was another message from someone named Jinwoon.
From: Jinwoon
hey! if ur free today, bring lola and we can jam. lemme kno.
Woohyun blinked a few times. Lola? Who was Lola? He frowned at the text before marking it as unread and putting Sunggyu’s phone back down. He heard the shower shut off and the shower curtain open.
A few minutes later, Sunggyu walked out of the bathroom fully clothed and drying his hair. “Did Sungyeol or Myungsoo reply yet?”
“Yeah. Sungyeol said later in the afternoon.” Sunggyu hopped onto his bed and checked his texts. Woohyun waited for him to check the one from Jinwoon. Sunggyu grinned before typing back a reply.
“You get another message?”
“Yeah, from my friend, Jinwoon. I told you about him, right? He works at the music store I usually go to downtown. He bought and named my first electric guitar. He said if I was free today, that I should bring it so we can jam.” Woohyun five minutes of panicking were over as he put two and two together.
“He named your guitar?”
“Yeah. Lola.” Woohyun couldn’t help the sigh of relief that escaped from his lips. Curiosity was going to be the death of him one day.
“So we can do that until Dongwoo and Hoya get up.”
“Yeah, sure. We’ll have to stop by my house first so I can get some clothes.”
“That’s fine.” Sunggyu grabbed a black case hanging on the wall before grabbing a red electric guitar from the stand.
“Hopefully he’ll let me use an amp. I am not dragging my amp all the way up there.”
--
It took Sungyeol and Myungsoo another hour after waking up before they finally got dressed and headed downstairs to the kitchen.
“Good morning, boys. Sleep well?”
“Best sleep I’ve had in a while,” Sungyeol said, taking the apple that Myungsoo handed to him. He was mildly surprised that Myungsoo knew he liked to have apples for breakfast. Or for a snack.
“That’s good. Any plans for the day?”
“We’re meeting up with some friends later today. Probably for ice cream and whatever after,” Myungsoo said, pulling out a chair at the kitchen table and sitting down.
“That sounds like fun. Did you finish your homework yet?”
“I’ll finish it tomorrow. That’s what lazy Sundays are for.” Myungsoo’s mom rolled her eyes.
“Oh! Your dad sent a video from the States today. We can watch it tonight.” Sungyeol looked between the two confused.
“My dad’s a consultant. He travels a lot for varying periods of time,” Myungsoo explained, catching the confused look on his face.
“Oh... Must be tough.”
“We manage. You’re separated from your parents too, aren’t you? I think I remember Myungsoo saying something about it...”
“Yeah. We call once a week, if they can find reception,” Sungyeol said with a smile. “In the mean time, I’m staying with my second mom here, so it’s not so bad.”
“Well that’s good to hear. Oh, Myungsoo. If you two are going out, would you mind stopping by the grocery store and grabbing a few things for me? The list is pinned on the fridge.” Myungsoo turned around and stared at the list.
“A few things?” He blinked at the length of the list.
“It could be longer.”
“I know, Mom. I know. You mind coming with me, Sungyeol? I think we’re going to be bringing home half the store.”
“No problem. Just let me stop by the house and pick up a pair of clean clothes.”
--
Woohyun’s house looked a lot bigger close up than it did from Dongwoo and Hoya’s house down the street.
“Your house. It’s huge.” Woohyun pulled up to the gate and pushed a button next to his rearview. He tapped his fingers on the steering wheel as the gate pulled open slowly.
“Yeah. It gets pretty lonely sometimes.” Woohyun drove through the long path until he parked in the open garage.
“Good grief. Your garage looks like a car dealership,” Sunggyu said, looking around at all of the cars.
“And this is only the front half. There’s a door back there that leads to the other half.” Woohyun made his way to a door on the side and took off his shoes before opening the door.
“Coming?” Sunggyu hurried after him as best as he could, trying not to look like he was in complete awe at everything he saw.
“What happened to the car with the broken window?”
“It’s fixed. I haven’t driven it since though. Decided that maybe it was time for a change.” He flipped on the lights to the living room, making Sunggyu stop in his tracks.
“Your living room is bigger than my house. This is ridiculous!” Sunggyu couldn’t help but look around this time. Everything looked so expensive and new.
“Yeah, well.” Woohyun glanced up at the clock. “Oh. My parents are about to call. Come on. You should at least see them once.”
Woohyun hurried into the living room and picked up a remote, turning on a projector or something. It looked like a movie theater.
The screen was blue for a moment until they heard a ringing noise. Woohyun pushed another button on the couch before grabbing Sunggyu and pulling him next to him.
White sands and rolling blue water appeared on the screen, along with two people that Sunggyu assumed were his parents.
“Hey, Mom. Hey, Dad. How are the Bahamas?”
“Amazing as usual. How have you been? We miss you!” His mom blew him a kiss through the phone.
“Oh, you have a friend over?” his dad said as he glanced curiously through the screen.
“Yeah, this is Sunggyu.” Woohyun wrapped an arm around his waist.
“Oh. OH. Are you two...” His mom’s voice trailed off as Woohyun smiled and nodded. Woohyun’s dad frowned slightly.
“I don’t want any funny business, you hear me?” Woohyun’s dad said, pointing at them through the screen.
“Funny business?” Sunggyu whispered over to Woohyun, clearly confused.
“He means sex,” Woohyun said loudly. Sunggyu choked on air before turning bright red and turning away from the screen.
“Woohyun!”
“I’m just explaining to him what Dad meant.”
“And by the looks of it, it looks like I don’t have to worry. Oh! How was your first soccer game? You said something about it last week.” Sunggyu listened as Woohyun and his parents had a conversation through the gigantic projector. They were so close, but so far away.
“Good job sweetie! School is going well, right? You’re keeping up with your grades?”
“Yeah. School is fine. Sunggyu keeps me on track.” Woohyun elbowed Sunggyu, making him scowl and punch Woohyun in the arm.
“Oh, he looks like he has a mean right hook.” They asked Sunggyu a few questions until they heard beeping noises.
“Honey! I told you to charge the battery last night!”
“I forgot, so sue me.”
“Okay, Woohyun. Our battery is dying so we’re going to let you go. We’ll be home soon!”
“Okay. Bye, Mom. Bye, Dad. Love you.”
“Love you too, honey!” Sunggyu and Woohyun caught the end of Woohyun’s mom scolding his dad for forgetting to charge the battery before the screen went blue again.
“And those are my parents. Let’s go. My room is this way.” Sunggyu limped after Woohyun, glancing around at the paintings and vases that lined the hallway. Woohyun threw the doors open to a room and walked inside, throwing his keys and wallet onto a large desk.
“Your room is bigger than my house.”
“Come see my closet then.” Woohyun grabbed Sunggyu hand and pulled him toward another door in his room. He pushed it open and turned on the light.
“Good lord!”
“My closet is bigger than your house, yes, I know.” Woohyun jogged inside and looked around for some clothes, grabbing whatever caught his eyes first.
“Are you going to stand there and watch me change?” Woohyun asked with a laugh.
“No, no...” Sunggyu wandered out of the closet in a daze. He looked around Woohyun room. Soccer posters, girl group posters. There were a few signed jerseys hanging on the wall, signed by people he assumed were famous soccer players.
Over his desk, there were pictures pinned in a collage. Sunggyu spotted a young Woohyun with young Dongwoo and Hoya, completely covered in mud but smiling brightly in the picture. There were pictures of Woohyun making various, amazing goals, newspaper articles, and group pictures.
“Soccer is pretty much your life, huh?” Sunggyu asked when he heard the scratching of Woohyun’s keys behind him.
“Pretty much. But you’re in my life now, so I guess it’s soccer and you.” Woohyun walked up behind Sunggyu and wrapped his arms around his waist, resting his head on his shoulder.
“I guess I should learn something about the other love of your life.”
“I’ll tell you about it on Sunday when we’re doing homework with everyone. Let’s go.”
--
“I meant to ask you earlier about the pictures on your wall,” Sungyeol said as he leaned on the shopping cart. Myungsoo was picking tomatoes.
“What about them?” He threw one back and picked up a different one before placing them into a plastic bag and tying it.
“Did you take them?”
“Yeah. Do they look good?”
“They look professional.” Myungsoo grinned at him.
“Soccer is a past time for me. My real love is photography.” They walked side by side as Myungsoo checked things off of the list.
“What about you? Anything you’re particularly passionate about?” Myungsoo stuck the pencil into his ear before reaching for something higher on the shelf.
“I guess... Art? Drawing and stuff.” Sungyeol stepped away from the cart and reached over Myungsoo to grab what he was reaching for and threw it into the cart.
“Really? Didn’t peg you for an artist. Well, maybe a martial artist.” Sungyeol shoved at him.
“How much is left on the list?”
“Not much. This is going to be ridiculous to carry back home.” Myungsoo frowned as he crossed some more things off of the list.
“Good exercise,” Sungyeol said, flexing his arms.
--
“You must be Woohyun! Sunggyu’s told me a lot about you." Woohyun shook Jinwoon’s hand with a wary look on his face.
“Did he say something bad about me?”
“Nah, nah. Good things, that’s all. You ever hear Sunggyu play before?” Jinwoon headed over to where Sunggyu was setting up. He plugged his guitar into the amp before testing out a few notes.
“Sunggyu is my best form of advertisement. People will stop by to hear him play and ask for lessons. Are you going to teach lessons again this year? It would give you something to do while people are in school.” Woohyun pursed his lips while Sunggyu looked up from his guitar.
“Uh... I don’t know. Maybe. Maybe I’ll try it out for a week and see,” he said slowly, looking over at Woohyun. Woohyun frowned at him for a moment.
“Think about it! But for now, let’s play.”
--
Sunggyu was, in short, absolutely amazing at the guitar. Woohyun had never seen or heard him play like that at home before. Woohyun watched his fingers move over the strings in awe.
“Guess what I learned one day when I got bored?” Sunggyu’s fingers moved again, this time a slightly familiar tune reaching his ears.
“Oh my god! No way! The Team Rocket theme from Pokemon? Are you serious?”
“I even wrote an arrangement for it. Here, take a look at it.” Sunggyu dug around the black case for some papers and handed them over to Jinwoon. Jinwoon’s eyes lit up as he scanned the pages.
“Dude, you’re a freaking genius. That’s crazy.” Jinwoon started to play a few chords tentatively, staring at the music. Woohyun looked over his shoulder at the notes and blinked a few times.
“Can you read this?” Jinwoon asked Woohyun, looking back over his shoulder.
“No... I can’t.”
“Sunggyu! What a travesty! Your boyfriend can’t read music?”
“It’s okay. I don’t know anything about the love of his life either. We’ll trade information,” Sunggyu said, smiling at Woohyun.
--
The boys were sprawled out in the front yard again. Dog was jumping back and forth from chest to chest. Carrying the fifty bags of groceries from the bus stop to the house was more tiring than they thought it would be.
“Isn’t it only the two of you? Why do you guys need so much food?”
“My mom likes to bake. There’s always cookies or cake or something, and she’s always looking up new recipes to try.” Myungsoo’s phone vibrated, making him dig around in his pocket for his phone. He glanced at the screen before stuffing his phone into his pocket.
“Looks like Dongwoo and Hoya are finally awake. Woohyun said he was coming by to pick us up for ice cream.”
“Huh. Haven’t done that in a while.”
--
When Woohyun pulled up, Myungsoo and Sungyeol squished themselves into the back seat with Dongwoo and Hoya. Sunggyu was in the front seat looking over some new sheet music he bought.
“Good morning, you two,” Myungsoo said with a smirk on his face.
“Good morning to you too. I heard you and Sungyeol spent the night together.” Dongwoo leaned forward so he could grin at them past Hoya.
“We did. But probably not like the way you two spent the night together.”
“What? Interested in our sex life?” The whole car started to protest, including Hoya.
“That’s really not something they need to know,” Hoya said, punching Dongwoo in the arm.
“What? I was just saying.”
--
All eyes were on Sungyeol and Myungsoo at the ice cream parlor. They were laughing and joking with each other, feeding each other ice cream.
“Are you sure, are you absolutely sure the two of you aren’t dating?” Woohyun asked for the fifth time in the last hour. Sunggyu had gotten bored with the conversation long ago. He considered them to be dating, and he didn’t need verbal confirmation like Woohyun did.
“We told you, we’re not. And if you ask one more time, I’m going to flip this bowl of ice cream into your face,” Sungyeol said, pointing his spoon menacingly at Woohyun face.
“No! Not my face! Not my beautiful face!” He mock gasped in horror and held his face.
“I swear, you’re so dumb.” Sungyeol rolled his eyes and took another bite of his ice cream. Sunggyu watched as Woohyun tried to fight off Dongwoo and Hoya’s advancing spoons towards his ice cream.
He could get used to this.
