It's nice being reminded how many people in the world want you dead.

FRIDAY: Went to watch Ghostwatch at Susanne's with Susanne, Holly, and Chris (Team Very Big Nerds About Many Things), and occasionally the dog, who is very small and bossy but probably not a nerd. Despite a Significant Pizza Delay making me grumpy as all hell from hunger, a good time; Ghostwatch (utterly silly, oh God how stupid are the British ( Read more... )

There is some deeply unhealty "Eat painful quantities of fruits and vegetables, and nothing else" stuff being promoted out there. It turns out dividing food into Good and Bad? Not the best idea in creating actual healthy eating!

Carpe diem! With some backup planning in case we don't all die! (Pretty sure I will somehow be safe in it all, and actualy do need to save for retirement and stuff.)

In fairness to her, she did repeatedly say "there's more than one way to be vegan and this is just the way I choose to do it" but dear God SHE HAS AN EATING DISORDER. EATING! DISORDER!

Ugh no I don't want to be in the horrible situation of surviving and wishing I hadn't and that is what the world looks like it's going to be right now.

Yeah, eating painful quantities of food, including inedible stuff, isn't just another way to be vegan.

Damn, because I'm pretty sure I'm at the "Make it through whatever unscathed" level of privilege, and it's be nice to have surviving friends.

Not through everything, though. There's always the level of badness where they start throwing The Gays and Imperfect Bodies under the bus, which I think is round about the time the both of us end up enjoying a nice view of some axles prior to a splat.

When will the asteroid I ordered knock us out of existence and take our bananas-with-peels-eating asses to hell where we belong?

It was 'starter sushi' so it was either sushter or stushi. Stushi amused me more so it won. But yes, it was an excellent day. Much fun was had.

how the fuck does anyone power through NINE POUNDS of lettuce? never mind the banana peels - you compost banana peels, you don't eat them - that is a truly batshit amount of lettuce. i mean, lettuce doesn't weigh anything! that could be, like, nine heads of lettuce! what the actual fuck is wrong with that person?

...possibly i have strong feelings about dumbshit diets. i'd have strong and negative feelings about vegans but i know a genuinely low-maintenance, food-sane vegan, and i don't want to lump her in with the crazy.

rachel's birthday ramble sounds like a lot of fun. and i'm not just saying that because it involved sushi and (apparently) conversations about buildings.

No dressing or anything, either, she like, wrapped an entire head of romaine around a single medjool date and that's what she ate and like... I fear her poop. It was a LOT of lettuce.

Yeah, I know some very sane vegans (although they do like to have a big lecture on FB now and then and I'm not sure everyone else has the same intestinal fortitude to say "yes but I care a lot less about Sad Moocows than I do about BEING ABLE TO EAT EASILY").

It was! Nice to get the fuck out of the house for a change.
