I attribute this word count to three things: 1. a monotonous job (this got PtP up to a terrifying wordcount), 2. having no internet access (ie either daily trips to the library or writing on public transport on the way to and from work) and 3. not having to write essays every week.

this year I knocked up a minor character only for her to sneak in with a whole bunch of narrative POV in part 2 and now I have to think about plumbing and augh no take it away

Could you not have just killed her off at some point? I hear haemorrhagic miscarriages are all the rage.

AH COME ON YOU'RE SO CLOSE JUST PUKE OUT SOME POINTLESS DESCRIPTION AND THROW DOWN SOME BANTER.

Ooooor you could use camp NaNo to do the other half. I did PtP over two years because otherwise I got one chapter done a year vs MOST OF THE BOOK in NaNo. I'm planning on hurling some fic or other to a NaNo-esque wolf come January, for example...

*looks at your wordcount* yet again you did not do something amazing you did something TENDONITISING. also i have discovered that if you take a gulp of icy water with a pizza roll fresh from the oven it does not burn you, that means i can get thru this meal quick.

...the...the stupid little stamps are cute this year

i have to do this

Surprisingly no, my wrists are pretty much in good shape this year. I think it's only combined with the hardcore typing data entry job that it turns my tendons into paté.

GO MARIKA YOU CAN DO THIS.

Did I ever tell you about the time i marched angry and naked up and down outside my bedroom door while swearing, hiccuping, and trying to shove garlic bread into my mouth?

i heap praise upon you! because seriously, dude, no matter how you did it, 117k words in a month is pretty fucking impressive.

as for the mechanical strong points, you write really viscerally painful violence.

Boo hiss, it would be better in so many ways. Still, it is almost done with now. Only three more chapters to write.

\o/ Sometimes I forget that other people don't.

Good job. Please friend me, I don't talk much or do Nano. I always seem to start writing three months before.. funny that. But I think you are genius. Currently have an idea kicking around my head about a horrid boarding school in space.. in the future of course.

"We love very much, that's why we sending to school on another planet."

"No you don't Mum and Dad. Fuck you."

"Right back in the hole."

"No! Not the HOLE!"

world-building is often flimsy and full of hand-waving,

NOPE. ASAH has such a vivid world without you shoving any world building down our throats with explain-y boringness. SO YEAH.

general dearth of heroism and kindliness

I present you El Alacran so also NOPE, but while you could probably argue the lack of heroism in a lot of stuff you write, I say a) DEFINTIE HEROISM and b) there is never a lack of kindliness. I mean, you write a lot of dickfaces and jerks and whatnot, but even horrid people usually have soft spots.

scene-setting without infodump

SEE THIS IS WHAT I'M SAYING ABOUT WORLD BUILDING, you basically do this except on a grander scale and you do it WELL.

Also, way to win the shit out of NaNo.

you write a lot of dickfaces and jerks and whatnot

Accurate. I might put that on my profile.

Dickfaces and jerks are almost always the best characters anyway.

Gazing upon your icon of Joe Dick, Loudmouth Asshole Liar, I believe you may be entirely right.
