In which I magically become boring as soon as people add me.

I cannot explain how much I dislike every single thing on the "go to bed, go to sleep, get up, go to college" front at the moment. Actually BEING at college is - while frustrating - fine. Because I'm THERE and getting on with it. It's the bit where I know I have to get onto the most uncomfortable fucking bed on the planet and try to force my brain ( Read more... )

David Thewlis is so much love. And you have succeeded in convincing me to go hunting for TCP. There. Success. :D

(Plus talking to you makes me happy.)

Well, good show. :) Hygiene is important, and all that (also infections are gross. As I will happily tell EVERYONE at the moment, in alarming detail).

I LIKE YOU AND I CARE. By your 28th birthday, this shall be drilled into your skull. Infection? Do tell. I've just eaten and I'm feeling masochistic.

Rose's copy of PTP arrived today. Oh my gods, it's HUUUUUUUUUUUGE! And pretty. As much as I love seeing my design work in physical form, I'm glad I bailed on doing the cover because really, nothing I was doodling was anywhere as fitting as that minimalist night shot with the multicoloured writing.

I need to discuss Kraken with you at some point. I'm enjoying it but there's something a bit wrong with it that stops me from reading it in long sessions. I'm consuming it in small bites. I can't quite pinpoint what's not right. Maybe it's the ratio of world-building infodumps to actual plot. I don't know. The ideas feel like classic Miéville, but it's like the actual prose was written by an apprentice.

I am very fond of that poem.

*g* Reproduction minimalist night shot. :D You still have the MSF thing if you want? Cover design is wide open on that one.

Oh to begin with I found the prose clumpy and difficult and the dialogue felt like it was trying too hard - if you keep going eventually the weight of the story just barrels you past all of that and you get very attached to Collingswood. :D
