I got home to a big bouquet of flowers and all my friends making sure I was okay.

Funny story, a sympathy card was passed around the bar.  One of the guys was handed the card and told to sign it.  He was told it was for me, but he didn't read the damn thing.  So his signing of the card said "have a great year."  He thought it was my birthday card.  ( Read more... )

My dad passed away this morning at the age of 59.  I'm headed to Minneapolis tomorrow.  I can't believe this is really happening.

Yesterday, I became the proud owner of a brand new Hyundai Tucson (actually the bank owns it).  She's blue and has 62 miles on her, which means I've driven her 43 miles so far.  Driving to the grocery store I was very careful and cautiously changing lanes.  I wonder how long I can keep her from getting a door ding.  Now I want to take a road trip ( Read more... )

I came home from Cal this afternoon with a heavy heart.  The little black cat, known as the Flash Monster, has gone home to her maker.  She was an impressive feline specimen--the mighty hunter and the sultry lover.  She would sleep with us at night, sometimes getting up and destroying the vermin that dared venture into the house.  It wasn't so long ( Read more... )

Tonight, I get home and am unpacking my stuff and getting ready to settle in for the weekend.  I get a strange call on my cell phone.  "Do you know a Ted S&**^?"

"Why, yes, I do, why do you ask?"

"I found his cell phone in the middle of the street, and wanted to return it.  I was just calling people in his contact list to see how I could return it."
