Heh at the Valentine's Day eggs display (I'm trying to remember if Reeses has a heart-shaped cup, but I don't think they do? Just Christmas trees and eggs, and for Valentine's I think it's Reeses pieces in a heart-shaped container, like M&M's?)

Midterms and finals are scored strangely here - they don't affect the current quarter/semester grade at all. Rather, there's a slot on the report card for midterm grades, and one for finals, so they are incorporated with the four quarter grades all together, to determine the final end-of-year grade. How odd. I've never seen that. So there isn't even a semester grade, just an overall year grade

re: Watchmaker -- I'm glad you enjoyed it! For me, it is also not a book I totally love, or, rather, I like it a lot, but am surprised/puzzled by some of the choices. I read it spoiled for Thaniel/Mori being canon, and also knowing that Grace did something negative, though not what, and I kind of wish I had picked it up wholly unspoiled (I totally spoiled myself, clicking on well-marked spoilers, so I have only myself to blame, but normally it doesn't matter for me, but here I would've liked to go in totally cold
