A recommendation and a question.
Firstly, for those interested in Age of SAIL and have a little cash to spare (or feel like treating yourself over Christmas), I heartily recommend this book;
Fighting Ships 1750-1850 by Sam Willis. It is a huge book containing full colour pictures of some of the most famous and beautiful naval paintings of that era, including middie Nelson and the polar bear, the Death of Nelson, depictions of sea battles and notable naval officers, etc. This book is truly a thing of beauty.
Secondly, has anybody read either of these two books?
-
Wellington; The Iron Duke by Richard Holmes
-
Rifles; Six Years with Wellington's Lengendary Sharpshooters by Mark Urban
If so could you please give me your opinions on whether they are any good or no? (The rifles one has a recommendation rom Bernard Cornwell on the front cover, so I'm hoping that is worth reading.)
