I took advantage of the first clear night I have had in close to 2 weeks, and did some viewing, and when the moon cleared the gumtree, I dragged out the computer and camera. ( Two Lunar pictures )
Thanks.. It always amazes me to see our nearest 'neighbor' at night. And I am surprised at just how well the pictures taken with the McGuyvered webcam come out. I will be getting a 'real' DSI (deep space imaging) camera soon, but I wanted to learn how to do astrophotography with 'cheap' camera first (if that makes sense) I will probably be experimenting with the orange, red and yellow filters soon. Wish I had the webspace to put up the avi file of the purple moon but it's too big. (chatty and gabby cuz she is JAZZED!)
Yep, that makes perfect sense to me ('bout the camera'). Though that is only through hindsight - I got my first (and only) telescope when I was 17...I got a bit of money, knew absolutely NOTHING about astronomy except that I was in total awe, wonder, and amazement of space, so I went and just bought the whole kid and kaboodle. Then did the learning afterwards. Turns out I loved it, but there have been plenty of similar choices I've made in life where I learn everything there is about it with a passion, and then think 'actually, not for me'. So now I have to hold back *sigh*. It's JUST NO FUN THAT WAY!!! :) (not that there's any fun at all in astronomy with 4 street lights *sob*) Looking forward to the red filters! *opens property section of the local paper for houses in remote locations*
