One of the reasons people think I'm weird

Today I watched a generously-sized spider wrap a fly and drag it carefully to her den under the roof light. She was incredibly graceful, and it was no easy task what she had to do, since the entrance to her den was barely big enough for her to crawl past, never mind her plus juicy morsel of food ( Read more... )

I am terrified of spiders.

So your entry made me go o.o ---> O.o ---> O.O

But seriously, most spiders are totally harmless to humans, while every year there are more deaths caused by mosquito bites than by shark attacks...

Of course, I'm not talking tarantulas here. Just your average, small house spiders. I kill the big ones... or my cat does.

I don't like spiders, either (I certainly never would like to stroke one); but as long as they're useful I'll tolerate their presence.

*nods* I normally do a catch and release for ground spiders. (Even insanely large ones that kinda freak me out.) With web spiders, I pretty much leave them alone. As long as nothing invades my personal space of seems like a threat to my child, I generally let it live. ^_^

Good to hear you making use of nature's little bug-catchers. XD Entertainment, indeed.

Ground spiders don't live long in my flat... since my cat is an exceptionally good bug-catcher. Though if the spiders are too big she gets freaked out and only chases them around a bit until I notice and take carge. She has a special meow to inform me of the presence of a bug she can't catch by herself, whether because it's flying too high or because it's scary. She's also scared of roaches and crickets... she doesn't like their serrated legs. XD ( ... )
