There are times when you write down something but do not get around to posting it for various reasons, yes? I found one such old post that I had written on the 27th day of February in the year 2006. Things have changed but this is one thing I still feel very strongly about - hence posting now.

Are we secretly at war?

There is no doubt that the world ( Read more... )

You know what, Anupma? I share the same sentiments (read I'm single and the whole world wants me to get married). And like you, I don't get it either.

But now that you're married, maybe you could point a reason as to why married people want singles to get married? Hehehe.. :-)

Actually, I cannot. The whole phenomenon still remains extremely mysterious to me. I have many single/unmarried friends and I still like them all the same. I do not mind hanging out with them or listening to their dating woes. Really. Let us see how long this lasts, maybe I am still to new in this area. ;)

You just summed up (and very eloquently that too) exactly what I feel ALL the time! Hey...but now that you're on the other side of the fence, pray tell whether you say the same things to your still single friends. :P

Oh no, I do not. In fact, I propagate the idea of latish marriage. Being married is fun as you get to be with the person you like, but it does bring a lot of responsibilities with it. You grow up overnight. You do not want that happening to you at 23 or 24, do ya?

I am perplexed by everyones interest in my marital status.
Tell me about it! Trust me, this post rings a very familiar bell. All this is very true even if you are a 25+ and single man.

I have even had people say to me: "Don't you feel strange that you are not married yet? Most of your batchmates are already (or about to get) married."

These days, I have a canned "I am single and looking" ready. That seems to effectively close the topic... apart from being true ;-)

So how does this post look in hindsight, now that you are on the other side of the fence? :-)

I still feel strongly about the topic. Maybe all those comments and statements are still to fresh in my mind and my anger starts to build up when I hear someone saying the same to other girls!

Worst place to be if you are single is weddings!

Oh yes, I have. Read and related to it. Have also watched a lot of Sex and the City. In fact, the phrase "Are we at war?" comes directly from the show.

What are your thoughts, though, now that you've joined the other team?

Still the same. The mystery still remains unsolved; I am clueless why people do this and it is happening all around, not just in a particular household or a specific society.

I hates it.
