Personally, I would have switched Murtagh and Shruikan's place, since Murtagh is a far more prominent adversary toward Eragon than Shruikan ever was. Especially since Murtagh arguably ought to have been much more prominent than he was in canon. But that is just me ( ... )

You are completely right about Shruikan and Murthag. Shruikan should have been the number one of the previous top and Murthag should have appeared on this one

My logic with Galbatorix was that if he was a much more evil villain without making other characters likeable, it would have made the work fall into darkness induced apathy. But you are right that he needed fewer changes

And yeah, I'm not very happy with sapphira's position. She could have been The likeable character and be engaging even if Eragon were just as awful

Thanks. Maybe we could balance the over the top evilness that I proposed with the same motivations he has in canon. As it is, dethroning the riders because they were tyrants and trying to protect the land from a bunch of terrorists, although it might still be a little over the top.

What I tried to do was making the Galby do things in a way that even with the actual characterization of the protagonists (The Varden in general, not Eragon), one could arge that they still were the lesser of two evils.

(Which is the justification they alwayd do in canon. Eragon especially does horrible things constantly and shruggs it of saying that it was necessary, even if it clearly wasn't to an outside viewer)
