You have no idea. Once we created the journal - this took minutes - the man forced us to sit for an hour and match colors (!) for his journal. Sheesh.

What you're saying, velfadar February 2 2003, 13:03:24 UTC
Is that these colors are intentional...?
Oi, my aesthetic sense is having an epilepsy attack!

Thank you for your warm welcome!
As for the colour - it is Crimson, not merely red! I adore, wear, dream and worship it (yes, I have a small shrine in my room dedicated to the colour Crimson)- so there! :)

Welcome!
What fun! Now we'll all get a chance to witness your nasties and butcherings online...
I have to hand it to you: it takes quite a lot of guts to even go anywhere near כוכבים בחוץ, but I suppose I'd rather trust you with it than anyone else. What's that? Flattery will get me no where? Give it time, my dear. :-)
BTW - may I place special requests?

Of course you may - You do have good taste, after all.

Oh, goodie! velfadar February 3 2003, 09:25:57 UTC
What I had in mind, is Yehuda Amichai's שיר ליל שבת - "Song for Sabbath Eve" (ignore the font). What I dread most are the biblical references, but - in Sonis we trust....
I'm curious to see what you'll make of this.

I welcome you, my dear Ronen,
into this self-exposers' den.
In telephonic conversations
you have been mention'd now and then

by avva, whom, I understand,
we both refer to as a friend.
(His journal - written in Cyrillic -
I'll be the first to recommend).

So may you, through this software tool,
produce translations not uncool.
Good luck, godspeed!
                  Sincerely,
                                  Eli
(some people know me as khatul).

It is my pleasure, kind senor,
To say I've heard your name before -
I have been following your progress
Since April 1994

When I had fallen to the charms
Of your first renderings of Kharms
Into our obstinate old language.
I welcome you with open arms

Into my virtual abode,
And though this meter may still goad
me to continue and continue -
I now conclude this silly ode.

I checked out yours, now check out mine
(Though uncomparable with thine ;)
Here's one and two and three. For four
You'd have to crawl and beg for more...

...Dammit, even posting in your journal makes one not just rhyming, but translating her own comments on the spot:
Прочла твои, вот три моих
(Хоть не сравнить с твоими их).
А чтоб четвертый получить,
Пришлось бы ползать и просить.

Thank. It makes me feel great when I read all these stories. It helps me from hopelessness and make me more stronger to fly… thank… for everything. Love
