Barr nodded as she listened to him speak. Not because she agreed, but because she knew she had to do something. She felt responsible for everything that was happening here right now, and she hated the risk she was running.

She tightened her hold on Dean’s hand, and gave it a squeeze before she looked up at him. “If anybody should do this, I suppose I ought to set a good example, nie?” For a moment she just looked up at him, before she sent him a small smile, then rose up on her toes to brush a kiss to his lips. “Thank you for coming along,” she told him, before took the lead and entered the maze.

Dean entered the maze shortly after Barr but lost her immediately after he took the first step inside. It was confounding and it worried him immediately as he stood just inside the entrance. He’d remembered a large wizard following him in then and stepped aside, not wanting to get barreled over. Still, when he turned to face the path, no one was behind him and his frown deepened before he took off toward the middle of the maze ( ... )

The sound of leaves shuffling behind her had Barr turn her head, only to see the labyrinth close behind her. For a moment she thought she was going to be sick as the walls seemed to be closing in on her. Why? she thought to herself. She had never been claustrophobic before in her entire life, yet when she looked up, and saw the clear blue sky above the hedges, she sighed with relief that she hadn’t been entrapped completely ( ... )

The darkness surrounded him and Dean could feel his throat constrict as he fought off a wave of panic. Something slithered across his foot and he stood stock still, trying to just clear his mind enough to come up with a plan. Lumos He muttered under his breath, caught between being thankful for the blue glow or trying to somehow keep down the terror that was surely going to reveal itself when his eyes adjusted to the light.

He heard a hiss and stepped to the side, feeling something cut through the stagnant air in the dungeon. Diffindo Dean shouted, the light extinguishing from the tip of his wand as a violet ray replaced it, slicing through the darkness. He heard a dull thud and turned to run once more, his foot slipping on the round body of another snake. Dean brought his wand up to light the hallway once more when something jabbed into his side and he cast another cutting spell, hearing the angry hiss of another dying snake ( ... )

Tracey listened to man speak, a chill running up and down her spine as she realized just who he was. It had been quite a while since she'd last seen him at the Yule festival. Since then, what gratitude she'd had for the being had faded, replaced by a wariness and a fear she just could not shake. After all, he had allowed her to be tortured, he had kidnapped Luna, who had never done a wrong in her life.

What if he did something to Zach?

Still, this maze seemed innocuous enough. It was all voluntary, a change from previous festivals of this level. And it seemed for a good cause. She watched a pair go in for a moment before turning to her companion. She squeezed his hand a moment. "Care for an adventure, love?" Tracey wasn't entirely sure what possessed her. After all, she'd just been wondering about the being who had created this thing. Tracey could never resist a challenge though, and she stepped forward, leaving the security Zach provided and making her way to the maze.

Zach understood that he’d be alone in this maze before he even stepped inside. Somehow, he knew because it was the same shite he’d pull if he were an all-powerful being. This was going to end up being a test and he’d need to beat this fucker at his own game. “Beat this bastard.” He growled as he took off running, the even churn of his legs, eating up ground in the maze. The first thing he needed to do was find Tracey and make sure she was okay but he suspected that there would be several obstacles involved before he located her and if this sick shite took Luna into the maze who was very pregnant and very vulnerable…well, there would be hell to pay ( ... )

Tracey hadn't known what to expect. Nothing good, she supposed. Tracey walked into the maze and took about five steps before she froze. She tried to move her arm, but not even her fingers twisted. Her breath came in short gasps, and she was surprised by how quickly her heart was pounding, by the adrenaline that ran through her veins ( ... )

Zach wondered what Tracey’s next fear would be as he walked down the path. He knew the game already and he wanted to finish this but he wasn’t going rush this because if he did that, he knew it was going to lead to nothing but trouble. So he fought against his base urge to run and find Tracey, instead concentrating on trying to concentrate and prepare himself for this fucker’s next game ( ... )

It was with mixed feelings that Alicia went into the maze. Part of her was fearing any catch there might be to it, while the other part was willing to do just about anything to make this town better than it was. After all, it had given her the things she had missed for so long, and then some. If somebody a year ago had asked her where she would be today, she would have answered that she would most likely be doing the same thing she had been doing back then, and with no plans of changing it. Being in love in a way that could take her breath away, living with Oliver - starting a life together with him while living among old friends, both living and dead… That she wouldn’t have thought ( ... )

Oliver sure the hell didn't like it when Alicia seemed to disappear into thin air after they entered the maze. In fact, it set him on edge, worse than he'd been since the final battle. Thoughts of him never seeing her again preyed on his mind and ghastly images of what could have happened took form and rooted themselves where Oliver couldn't help but reflect upon them ( ... )

Oliver stood over Alicia, watching the horror in her eyes and his heart reached out to her. He couldn't let this person hurt her and he fought with every bit of his being, understanding that if he didn't, the woman he loved could be harmed or even worse, killed. Oliver reached deep into himself as the hand of the man whose body he shared rose and the knife drove down toward Alicia ( ... )

Sirius walked into the maze first, expecting Parvati to follow. He was still anxious about what this maze would entail. Considering how things in Annwn tended to go, he thought this would be closer to a minotaur's labyrinth than a friendly little corn maze.

When he entered, he looked back for Parvati and saw nothing. No one was there. Yet he'd seen other people enter. It was all very strange, but then again, what Annwn festival wasn't bixarre? Filled with trepidation, Sirius began walking through the maze, wondering if any of the tricks he'd learned about escaping mazes as a kid would work here. Probably not, he figured. He doubted that this was an ordinary maze ( ... )

Parvati really didn't want to do this. All she wanted was to be home, going through her papers (though she was running out of things she could do at home), and maybe having dinner with Sirius.

Then, damn it, he went into the thrice-damned maze, leaving her no choice but to follow him. Entering, she reached out to take his hand again, only to find that he wasn't there. What? No! He was right there, right in front of me!

Parvati found herself alone in an eerily silent maze, stumbling down corridors and around corners, corners she expected to find Macnair behind, every one of them. It wasn't long before her breath caught in her throat in fear, in terror...

... until she stumbled around one more corner to find herself somewhere entirely different. It was a place she didn't know, never been, but she could tell something had happened. All around her feet lay rubble, what appeared to be the remains of a house. Wood, plaster, pieces of furniture, papers and other personal items everywhere, some of them singed or still burning. Dear gods, ( ... )

Oh God. Macnair.

For a moment, Sirius was filled with rage. At least now he could exact revenge for Parvati, here in a maze where there was no one around. Finally, finally, after that ineffectual 'punishment' the Entity had enacted, Macnair would be made to suffer...

And then Macnair took a step forward and that rage changed into an overwhelming sense of fear. Sirius was trembling and he suddenly felt much smaller. Oh God, please don't Macnair come closer, oh God...

"My pet, I've found you," he said in a low, husky voice, his lips pulling into a grin while his eyes wandered all over Sirius's body. Sirius felt sick, even as he tried to convince himself that all Macnair could do was leer. Shaking, he reached for his wand and pulled it out, shouting, "Stupefy!"

It missed or it simply didn't work. Macnair walked up to him without missing a beat, still wearing that eerie smile. One of his fingers reached out and stroked Sirius's cheek, a far more intimate gesture than he would ever be warranted. Oh God, not again, not again

Parvati scrambled forward, an urgency she'd never felt before running through her system, fueling her body as she dropped the picture and started digging through the rubble around that hand. White, feminine. Oh God, God now, not Lily, it couldn't be Lily. Surely Lily and James had escaped, right? Surely... they had to have....

"No!" The word came out as a half moan when she saw Lily's face emerge from the wreckage of her once happy home. "Lily, oh God, no."

James, where was James? James would be broken, devastated. She started digging, looking for her best mate, knowing James would never be far from Lily but, God, hoping he was. Hoping James was far, far away somewhere with Harry, that at least James and Harry were safe. Fuck, it wouldn't be fucking fair if Harry were here somewhere, buried and dying or dead, just a kid, he was just a fucking kidWithout warning, her hand hit something softer than wood, softer and only partially warm. Cooling. Parvati pulled her hand back with a jerk, as though that cooling something soft had burned ( ... )

George didn’t much feel like going to this shindig truthfully but Katie had convinced him and he agreed, rather begrudgingly because the selfish part of him wanted to spend some time alone with her which was not quite in the quantity he really enjoyed since they’d both been horribly busy and what not. The thing about it was that he understood and though he wanted nothing more than to lie in that wonderful bed they shared together, the fact was that they couldn’t shut out the world forever no matter how much he wanted to ( ... )

The light breeze was comforting on a day that was repulsing her to the core. The weather seemed at odds with what she was feeling. Katie slipped her foot out of her thong and ran her toes through soft grass. She listened to It speak and tried to keep a cap on her emotions. George’s presence was comforting as Katie tried to avoid looking at the massive amount of shrubbery that sprawled before her. Mazes were just puzzles waiting to be solved ( ... )

He most definitely was not a happy little Wizard, knowing that his most lovely fiancée was probably gallivanting through this maze by herself without George there to protect her. Of course, it would have probably been Katie just as much protecting George as George would protect her but that was all water under the toilet seat. He shivered at that thought. This was not what he’d suspected when they’d entered the maze ( ... )

Katie's feet hit the ground but the dust that she had expected didn't rise. Instead, she found herself barefoot on a tiled floor. The bright, whiteness of the blinding tile had her squinting. She looked around, confused, unable to see George. Katie trailed her fingers across the cool tile. It was decorated with red brooms and gold snitches ( ... )
