Tracey listened to man speak, a chill running up and down her spine as she realized just who he was. It had been quite a while since she'd last seen him at the Yule festival. Since then, what gratitude she'd had for the being had faded, replaced by a wariness and a fear she just could not shake. After all, he had allowed her to be tortured, he had kidnapped Luna, who had never done a wrong in her life.

What if he did something to Zach?

Still, this maze seemed innocuous enough. It was all voluntary, a change from previous festivals of this level. And it seemed for a good cause. She watched a pair go in for a moment before turning to her companion. She squeezed his hand a moment. "Care for an adventure, love?" Tracey wasn't entirely sure what possessed her. After all, she'd just been wondering about the being who had created this thing. Tracey could never resist a challenge though, and she stepped forward, leaving the security Zach provided and making her way to the maze.

Zach understood that he’d be alone in this maze before he even stepped inside. Somehow, he knew because it was the same shite he’d pull if he were an all-powerful being. This was going to end up being a test and he’d need to beat this fucker at his own game. “Beat this bastard.” He growled as he took off running, the even churn of his legs, eating up ground in the maze. The first thing he needed to do was find Tracey and make sure she was okay but he suspected that there would be several obstacles involved before he located her and if this sick shite took Luna into the maze who was very pregnant and very vulnerable…well, there would be hell to pay ( ... )

Tracey hadn't known what to expect. Nothing good, she supposed. Tracey walked into the maze and took about five steps before she froze. She tried to move her arm, but not even her fingers twisted. Her breath came in short gasps, and she was surprised by how quickly her heart was pounding, by the adrenaline that ran through her veins ( ... )

Zach wondered what Tracey’s next fear would be as he walked down the path. He knew the game already and he wanted to finish this but he wasn’t going rush this because if he did that, he knew it was going to lead to nothing but trouble. So he fought against his base urge to run and find Tracey, instead concentrating on trying to concentrate and prepare himself for this fucker’s next game ( ... )

Tracey stumbled around a corner of the maze and paused. She leaned against a hedge and gasped for air, shutting her eyes a moment. She really had to start running again. This short run through the maze had made her much more tired than it should have. Apparently having sex was not a good enough of a work out ( ... )

"You're mine, bitch." The voice scraped across his skin like nails across a chalkboard and Zach winced, wondering just where the fuck he was now. He looked around through puffy eyes and saw that he was being studied by some man who leered at him with a stark intensity. Zach struggled to stand but found that he was tied by his wrists to a bed and couldn't move ( ... )

A silence fell over the maze, muffling even Tracey’s footsteps. Tracey looked down at the grass, and was surprised to see that it had changed. Even more surprising was that the the grass had changed to a very familiar floor. Looking up, Tracey recognized their flat. Everything was in its place, from the flowers in the vase that Luna had picked this morning, to the shoes Zach always left by the door. Even Tracey’s book was laid just so on the corner of the coffee table. It was just as though she’d come home from the maze, and for a long moment, Tracey wondered if she had done just that ( ... )

Zach moved with renewed sense of purpose, somehow knowing that the trials he'd faced were over and he now needed to somehow find Tracey and get the fuck out of here. He hated this and vowed never to participate in one of these damnable festivals again. Zach frowned as his arms churned and he ate up the ground along the path. He knew though that he couldn't make those decisions because he wasn't alone anymore and he always needed to keep in mind that there were two, make that three others who depended on him ( ... )
