Date: 1 May 2003 Character(s): The Entity, others Location: The Maze outside the Mansion Status: Very Public Summary: The Fifth Festival Completion: Incomplete
Annis sat upon the swell of the ridge between the grand Mansion and its mythic Labyrinth. So this Festival, her second, would include in some way, this great maze...a race, perhaps. She grinned as she pondered the many possibilities. Then she wondered why. Why on Earth would there be any need for gatherings such as these? The sheer magnitude of the magic necessary to create such an extravaganza...
The proprietor of the events couldn't possibly be human. No human was powerful enough to generate such energy. She scanned the grounds...
There it was.
Or there he was.
He looked oddly at risk and slightly out of place, as if he were fulfilling an obligation and did not wish to be there. A strange combination of slight irritation and curiosity held its face, now packaged within masculine angles. She stood as he approached, knowing he would pass close by her on the way to his destination on the lawn below...and he did.
She decided to turn and look directly at him, examine his eyes. There was no use to avoid it, or, well, him.

It had sensed the woman before she approached it, understanding that it was something more than mortal but not quite what it was to them. The Entity's frown deepened. It did not realize it was the only immortal in town and wondered why it hadn't sensed her but it would be logical that her aura kept her hidden from it. More than likely, she would have had the same issue with it and it understood that each could cancel each other out. It chuckled as it remembered a long ago rune it had studied on the law of negation

"Me name is Annis Black," she replied, cocking her head to the side, "It's nice to make yer acquaintance, Henry Weaver." She looked at his face. He had green eyes

She had a mischievousness to her that was refreshing and in many ways, Annis reminded it of some of the younger fey back where he had been conceived. They too had this airiness to them that was so prevalent in this woman. Of course, that was before one went through their trials and the harsh reality of their existence reared its ugly head

Hermione looked towards the maze. There was something about the maze that was dark, evil almost. Hermione didn't know what to expect in the maze or even if they were expected to go in but whatever today's "festival" entailed, Hermione did not have a good feeling about it.
Hermione turned and looked towards the mansion. There was an aura of mystery around it and at the DA meeting, Harry had made it perfectly clear that it was a place to steer clear of. Hermione shivered and pulled her sweater tighter around her.
Hermione looked around at the crowd. It was a pretty good turn out. Hermione spotted Barr in the crowd and smiled and waved. Hermione was confident that this festival would raise a lot of money and awareness for the hospital.
Barr looked over the people who had shown up for the festival. So many people. It was amazing to know that so many people were willing to do something unknown in order to help the hospital. I was both reassuring and very, very frightening.
For the first time, Barr was taking a chance of relying on somebody she didn’t fully trust, on the off chance that the outcome would be better than what they had started out with. It still scared her to trust this someone who had made the offer of funding the hospital if people would show up for the festival. Granted, the festival for Ostara had been a pleasant one, but the one before that…
She swallowed down and forced herself to breathe deeply. Hopefully this wouldn’t be like that, though with all the people here, the number of things that could happen was mindnumbingly big. She wrapped her arms around her waist as she prayed that if anything bad happened today, people wouldn’t reflect it against the project of getting a hospital up and running. She wasn’t doing it for… him, she was doing it for

Adrian walked with leisurely steps towards the mansion, scanning the already forming crowd for familiar heads. He recognized many of the people already standing there, but none that he was actually on speaking terms with. He had seen the posters around town, but had not expected that many people showing up for a fundraiser for the hospital. In fact, he had not even wanted to come here, but it was liked the place had pulled him closer, allured him to participate in this festival that had the entire town running around.
He slowed down his pace as he neared the crowd, winking and smiling as he passed some females standing close together. He wondered briefly about their worried expressions, when he saw him. Unconsciously, he swallowed, and wetted his suddenly dry lips. He stopped for a moment, trying to think this through. He reflexively reached for his wand, feeling the wood inside his pocket and patted it lightly through the layers of clothing.
"Ya know Pucey... do yer methods usually attract girls? Because... Ye looked a total prat." She smirked at the ex-Slytherin and ran a hand through her black hair. "Whae ye doin' here anyways? Dinna know Annwn wis yer type a place." She looked up at the once-flier and arched a brow. "Seen Marcus lately? I've nae heard fae him in years." Which has been her doing really. After his last fuck up she'd decided it was better to just leave him alone, lest she be tempted to take him back.
Still, as Mora stared up at Adrian she realised it was good to see him. He was one of a few of the fliers that she actually usually got on with...despite the occasional fight. He usually deserved it.
He looked at her, startled for a second when she had said that she had no idea that Annwn was his sort of place. He was about to retort back, letting her know that had he not in fact been dead - killed in the goddamn war - then he wouldn’t have been here if he had a choice. But he hadn’t. He didn’t. This was out of his hands.
“Of course I attract the girls with my methods,” he settled for saying, deliberately ignoring her questions about Marcus. He smirked slightly as he observed Morag, “I obviously attracted your attention.” His smirk broadened, as he added in an indifferent manner, “Too bad it wasn’t you I wanted to attract.” He liked talking to her, heck; he even liked their occasional fights over random stuff. They had known each other for years now, or maybe it was just because she annoyed him so much that it seemed like years. He mentally shrugged.
Sirius turned to look at Parvati as her hand slipped into his, not having expected that sudden gesture. But she was nervous around so many people, so many strangers. Trying to look reassuring, he squeezed her hand a little. "We won't be here long. Once we do the maze, we can leave."
He wasn't sure what the maze entailed, and wasn't sure he wanted to know. The last festival had been surprisingly pleasant, so he hoped that this one might follow that pattern. But instead of feeling reassured, Sirius felt like he was waiting for the other shoe to drop. Perhaps the Entity had changed or was a good man, the way Tonks seemed to think, but Sirius couldn't help but think it wouldn't be long before another festival ended in disaster.
It didn't even immediately hit him that Parvati had called his place 'home'. He didn't think on it too much. He just said quietly, "It'll be fine. We'll be out of here soon."
It stepped away from the proceedings, away from the crowd and stood, watching people mill about, some nervously. The Entity understood their trepidation but it knew that there was little it could do about it. It had forced them into situations that were not conducive to trust being built but on the other hand, this event would not be anywhere near as traumatic as the others. Still, it would garner the necessary emotional diversity and magic needed for it to continue its research and to power this town
