Summary: Yoochun and Junsu, 2 famous idols (who by the way aren’t the best of friends in the world), are bound by a contract which dictates them to act as a couple. Sure, this boosts their popularity as intended…but what if love, something that wasn’t actually planned and prepared for, comes into the equation?
Trailer+Prologue Chap 1 Chap 2 Chap 3 Chap 4 Chap 5 “Why didn’t you ask my permission?! I can’t just be there with him….look we fought and I don’t think it’s a good decision to---“
“Yoochun,” the manager said sternly, “the schedule has been done, and whether you’re in good terms with Junsu right now or not, you are doing this show. It’s in your contract, you need to be in some appointments together so that people won’t forget that you’re actually together! Now get in the salon and be ready to record!”
I sighed, as I backed off from my angry manager and sat down in front of a stylist. After everything that happened last night? I don’t think Junsu and I are ready to meet each other yet…
I sighed, yet again…Junsu hasn’t talked to me since last night…well, I mean, it’s not that we talk everyday either, but still…
“Are you unwell, Yoochun-sshi?”
“Huh?” I ask my stylist.
“You’ve been sighing since a while ago…did you have a fight with Junsu-sshi?”
I bit my lip and nodded, as my stylist smiled gently and started fixing my hair.
“You really do think of him so much, huh? What a cute couple,” she chuckled, “I’m quite sure things would work out somehow, so cheer up!”
“T-thanks…I guess…”
I’ve been thinking of him so much?
Well…
Now that I think of it…
Seriously?
…I never noticed…
~.~.~.~.~.
“Sorry, I know you didn’t want to see me…”
“Don’t apologize; it’s not your fault.”
Both Junsu and I are in the set, waiting for the variety show to commence.
It was extremely awkward for me, since Junsu was giving a cold shoulder…well, sort of, since we didn’t exactly fight…it’s just that things didn’t end well the previous night.
Minutes later we finally started the variety show, and Junsu pasted on a fake smile.
…Ah, here I am, staring at him…
I’m thinking about him too much again…
I too, plastered a fake smile to my face, and pretended to have fun…
But it was extremely difficult, since today we had to play games in couples.
And as expected, my partner would be Junsu.
“Good day to you all! Today would be our celebrity couple special! With us here today are three very famous real-life couples: Se7en and Park Han Byul, Haha and Byul, and Park Yoochun and Kim Junsu!”
Claps resonated in the space that we were in, but still, Junsu’s smile wasn’t convincing…well, at least to me, that is.
“The team with the most points will receive a trip for two to Bora Bora!”
First up was a 200-meter race with one leg of each person tied to the other leg of his partner.
For the first time in a long while, cameras kept on following us, and I tried hard to make up with Junsu so that the atmosphere wouldn’t be as cold.
“Babe, you feeling okay?”
I placed a hand on his shoulder.
Junsu pouted, forever conscious that we were being filmed.
I sighed, and the MC suddenly teased me, asking if I did something to upset Junsu.
“We kind of fought about something…” I faced Junsu, “Tell me, what do you want me to do for you to forgive me?”
Junsu hummed and thought. “Just win for me today,” he smiled.
“Alright, I’ll win for you if it’ll make you happy.”
I don’t know if Junsu sensed it, but I really did mean it.
The MC curled his hands beside me, “Aish, these two are really too sweet!”
We arrived in the racing track, and our ankles were then tied together.
We held hands, and at the sound of the whistle, we ran together and ended up as 2nd place.
“And so SeHan team receives 20 points, YooSu team 15 points, and HaByul team 10 points!”
“Yah! What can I do with my short legs?!” Haha shouted, and everyone laughed at his comment.
I looked at the other couples, and suddenly became conscious of the fact that we were the only fake couple among the teams.
Ah…I’m thinking of him too much again…
“Next is a food challenge. One person from each team is to sit down and write what food he/she wants to eat, and the other person will go to the café nearby, buy the food that he/she thinks his/her partner wrote, and bring it here. The first one to bring back the correct dish will receive 25 points!”
Damn, I didn’t even know Junsu’s likes and dislikes much.
First I brought some ramyeon, which was wrong.
And then some spicy rice cakes, which was also wrong, but by this time Haha brought the correct food to Byul, and now it’s just me versus Se7en.
European food? That might be the right one…
I ran towards one of the sellers, “Do you have any European food in here?”
The lady kindly pointed out a good stall for me, where they were selling some pasta.
“Which one, which one, which one?” I kept on asking myself, not knowing which Junsu liked.
“Ah, one cream pasta please!”
The cook quickly made one for me, and I ran back to our table.
Junsu jumped when he saw what I brought, and revealed that indeed, the one written in his notepad was cream pasta.
We seemed like we were rejoicing, but when I glanced towards Se7en who apologized to Han Byul, I felt like we were the ones who lost instead.
Junsu tugged at my hand, “Yah, what’s up with you?” He whispered once I suddenly became sulky.
“It’s nothing.”
Then finally, after a long and tiring day of pretending, we were down to the last game…but it was probably the most challenging one for Junsu and I…
The pocky game.
I could even feel the sweat trickling on my back, and it wasn’t helping that Junsu was as indifferent as ever.
“The couple who has left a piece that is exactly 1.5 cm, or closest to it, will receive 25 points!”
I was not ready for this.
Junsu stood in front of me, a pocky stick in between his lips.
A whistle was blown, and I took the other end of the stick in my mouth while we nibbled as carefully as we could.
I had no idea if it was the same for Junsu, but I was getting extremely fidgety, especially now that our lips were about an inch apart.
This is very nerve-wracking!
I paused for a moment and Junsu did the same, and as Junsu stared at me, I grew weary. We never even kissed, in real life or in front of the cameras! How the heck am I supposed to do this?!
Just when I was succeeding in trying to calm myself down, Haha’s team finished the challenge, and ended up winning the prize.
~.~.~.~.~.
“Yah, why were you so dazed during filming?” Junsu complained as we walked to the parking lot.
“What, is it wrong for me to be worried?!”
“Worried about what?!”
“About us!”
Junsu became quiet, as I realized what I just said.
To hell with it.
“After what you did last night, you owe me a wish.”
I stepped closer.
“Have you seen the other couples today?”
“W-what about them?”
“Even if they lost in any game, it was okay, because they were happy with each other…but for us? Losing sucked because we weren’t even in good terms!”
Junsu stepped back.
“And that’s all because we were bound by this stupid contract! I tried to be civil about it but why do you keep on turning away?! I’m trying to have at least a good relationship with you, so that life with each other wouldn’t be so bad! But you keep on making this difficult!”
I grabbed his shoulders.
“If you want to solve things, here is my wish: let me be your friend, a genuine one who you wouldn’t have to pretend to get along with…a friend that you wouldn’t see as a nuisance…a friend who you will turn to if ever you’re troubled, just like last night…”
Junsu remained speechless.
Have I said too much?
"I'll think about it."
...Well, it was better than a "no," right?
